Open world in the same way Nier was but a larger scale it seems
isnt the demo supposed to be worldwide release on psn? fudge it, Iâll just use JPN PSN account
Yes, today, but PSN doesnât update in the morning, and never has since ever
Not gonna lie, I was thirsty af and looking too. The hype is real man give em a break
The demo for Nier isnât on the PSN store yet but you can start the DL on the PSN store website. Got mine DLing right now
Demo was really nice.
Dodging boss attacks was tricky at first - havenât played these kind of games in a while, but I loved the changing perspectives of the action from open camera, side scrolling, and overhead. I also like shooting one enemy while melee attacking another.
Yea I noticed the plug in chip system on my 3rd playthrough of the demo. very awesome and you can customize the experience more. my favorite system options (not chip related) is being able to actually CONTROL the camera zoom level for both standard and combat mode!!! I hate distant camera perspective, so itâs great I can give a bit closer to a RE4/5 distance, which makes it more immersive (I dont like the 2.5D and overhead/isometric parts, maybe the full game wonât overdo it with that, they are kinda cool, but I feel they should be like as rare as the morph ball segments in Metroid Prime. those camera views really dont deliver as much immersion and impact ,and yes Nier had stuff like that, but it didnt take over half the game and Automata gameplay, combat and world would be a greater experience making the most of free camera). and I like that flashlight feature with L3 (though the enviornment is mostly way too bright to really have any need for the flashlight!!! maybe those rumored dungeons could be dark?).
the full game has to be at least 30+ hours, counting side quests. its predecessor was around the 30+ hours mark.
the gameplay, graphics, animations, everything is so awesome I wouldnât care if the quests are fetch quests. I heard certain side quests might even have several chapters to its plot and adding more to the story and lore.
it can be challenging for the plot twists to be as mind blowing as Nier, Drakengard 1 and 3, but itâs totally possible.
if it really has rpg quality length and wonderful open world design and lots to it, it could totally surpass Yoko Taroâs previous games and be one of the greatest games ever.
yes it can still be praised and labeled as GOTY by some fans, but it would really leave a bad taste if this was a typical metal gear rising/bayonetta length game, which would be very skeletonish and lacking for a Nier brand game. quality and quantity are both essential. and replay value is not a priority when it comes to providing a very meaty 1st journey through the experience. you could have a greatly replayable game, but the length of the journey makes the whole experience have more overwhelming weight and meat to the experience.
as much as Iâm overwhelmed with Drakengard 3âs epicness, I prefer Nier Automata to be a more open, immersive, and longer game than Nier. I dunno to what extent the open world is, but like Nier it should have a place we can call home. Nier set standards for the brand with its world building and Automata shouldnât cut corners, itâs much more than an action game, or beat em up action rpg and its world can mean much more.
whatever the basic length of the game is, I think the sidequests are going to be essential to get optimal game length meat from the 1st playthrough (and a longer game also makes each new game+ or replay even more weight to it.) this shouldnât cut corners and be like â2Bâs 10 hour campaign is only 1/3 of the game! play the other characters for the full game!â, some fans are not interested in the other playables and prefer a 30+ hours 2B experience.
Honestly, Iâm not even sure how they are going to apply the other playable characters, are they going to get their own unique playthrough or they go through 2Bâs path? Like take the demo for example, would that mission/chapter start from 9Sâs perspective and be entirely shmup style considering the story situation, or walk through the same areas 2B goes through? well however they do it, it shouldnât take away from 2Bâs potential campaign length and quests/missions/locations accessibilities. (and there better not be auto character switching based on story progression. I despise that (especially hated it in that one part in Tales of Xillia where Milla took a timeout.). Just let players play as the character they want 24/7).
I like equipping both bare fists weapons on both slots for a full hand to hand combat style. I use the swords for the other set of weapons.
in new demo playthroughs, I been using the pod at minimum amounts, and try to take out the enemies with pure hand to hand combat (very exhilirating ). with the grinder bosses, I use the blades cause I wouldnât want my pretty hands and feet to get cut. ~_~
Isnât that only available in the demo if you put it on baby mode?
Notes about the combat system, obvious and not so obvious:
Square is quick attack, triangle is strong attack, no matter what weapon you have them in. So instead of thinking of quick or strong weapon attacks, think of it like equipping a weapon TO the quick or strong attack button
Hold square, hold triangle, while rising triangle, dodge + square(air ok), dodge + strong (air only), R1 + Jump are all possible commands. Hold attacks have various effects, rising triangle is always a launcher, dodge square seems to dodge while sending your sword out spinning, dodge strong does a forward moving drop attack with either weapon, R1 jump is some kind of weird attack riding the pod
Edit: found a video of it all
Lunge cancels to cover distance. The bigger the weapon the farther you travel

What immersive gameplay. Incredible BACKSTORY.
No no, the plot is just ok, the BACKSTORY is where itâs at
2B is a character i can get behind
Not if 9S gets to her first.
so its not going to follow the YoRHa stage play word for word, right? because the stage play basically spoils what happens. think the game could take different paths and stuff.
wonder how psychologically insane people will get after playing through Nier Automata, a lot sure went over the deep end after experiencing Drakengard 1, Nier and Drakengard 3, some of the most life changing games ever
âŚAre you serious? If playing a game is enough to give someone a psychotic break, then that person was ALREADY very mentally unstable. Iâve played Nier and Drakengard3 in their entirety and there is not a single thing in it that should make anyone go âover the deep endâ. They are extremely interesting stories yes, but they are just that, stories. They are not reality, so they should not be making anyone go crazy expect for people who canât separate fiction from reality.
^^Taking any post made by affinity serious, lol.
