Nice Guile vid (sorry if its old)

as non guile player, I thought it was quite good

That’s probably one of my favorite CvS2 vids out there, the combos are basic, but they work and the crossups and zoning Majestros does in that video are incredible, at least to me.

yeah I was glad when he showed me around LA when I came there and also saw his Guile, Ken and Sagat being played

Question:

In the video, when Maj goes for the jump in, it seems if he connects before he hits the ground, he’ll go for the Cr. Jab x2 xx FK.

However, when the opponent blocks, he does what looks like:

Cr. Jab x2, St. MP xx SB.

I’m having trouble chaining the second one, most notable the crouching jab to the standing MP. Anyone help?

You can find this in first part of the Video against K-Sagat and also around 58 seconds against N-Blanka.

Well from what i know…some characters are much too short to be hit by the st.mp so that combo doesnt work. For me i just go from db to b as i do my combo when i do use Guile. But other than that i say just learn which character is too short…i am not sure but i am guessing that anything that can duck and make Sagat’s st.jab whiff is also too tall for the st.mp for Guile…but dont quote me on it…but it seems like a reasonable assumption.

Works like a charm. I was trying to from DB to Neutral.

c.LP 2x x FK knocks down.
c.LP 2x, s.MP x SB doesn’t knock down but it takes away a good chunk of the opponent’s guard meter.

c.LP, s.MP is a 2-frame link, you got to time it well otherwise it won’t combo.

If you want to get fancy after the jump-in you can do:

-c.LP 2x, c.MP x SB
or
-c.MP, c.MP x SB

But both are 1-frame links so the timing is kind of difficult.

Good post, thanks.

Another question:

One of my biggest problems is the execution, especially with Guile since he’s a charge character.

In the vid, at 14 seconds he jump in on Sagat and J. MK, /, Cr. Jab, Cr. LK xx Sonic Hurricane.

I have not once been able to chain this effectively, how quick to I have to do it?

Who the hell do I cancel a Cr. LK into a Sonic Hurricane? Negative Edge?

Tap :uf: to jump and hold :db: immediately after. In that way you’ll be already charging for whatever move you want to do next. In order to do that combo you got to do the motion for the Sonic Hurricane really fast. An alternative would be to use s.LK instead of c.LK. That would allow you to simplify the inputs a little and at the same time allow you to perform the motion for the super a bit slower:

charge :db::lp::r::lk::l::r::p:

There’s no reason for negative edging the c.LK. If you do c.LP(2x) xx Sonic Hurricane, then you might want to negative edge the second c.LP in order to avoid getting a LP Sonic Boom by accident.

IMO, if you’re in C-groove (Guile’s best groove) you’d be better off comboing into lvl2 Total Wipeout and canceling the last hit into HK Somersault Kick. It does more damage, knocks down, and you’re already halfway into getting enough meter for another Total Wipeout combo.
