Newb, I need guidance In reaching top

Hi, I am a noob, and I need guidance. I want to reach the top of the leader boards. I been playing this game for less than a week and I am in super bronze playing ibuki. I was wondering if there are specifically an area the general player is good at to reach the next rank above to GM? I am trying to optimize my practice time by only practicing what is needed to be gradually climbing the ladder. There are obviously large skill gaps at certain ranks and players who use gimmicks that work in certain elo, but I am assuming that there is a general skill set the general player has for each elo. Also there is obviously strengths and weakness of every player which causes them to win. An example is should I just be learning the footsies game completely in my elo even though it will hurt my win rate (this is what I am currently doing)? What do you guys learn to climb the ladder in this game (what is in your opinion the perfect way to become top in the game)? Please give me advice, thanks.

What I am currently doing is practicing the basics of footsies. I only play ranked games ( I have 200 so far). My execution rate during game is around 80%, this obviously can come from time ( know basics combo). I watch a lot of pro gameplay. Mainly just learning frames, how to punish.

Imo, you should not shoot for the top of the leader board, but instead try to become the best version of yourself. So as far as improving, find players that are better than you that have a decent connection and play long sets. The watch the replays to find your flaws, and then work on them.

Dude your name sucks, I can’t “@” you. Anyway, just get solid with anti-airing and knowing how to punish each character in the game with your character. That will come with time, experience, and watching other people play that are higher level than you. The beautiful thing about SF5 is the CFN replay system. You can pull up replays from whatever character you want and filter based off whatever character you want to see them play against. That’s so awesome and people don’t give it enough credit. I learned to play Dhalsim by watching Filipino Champ’s CFN replays from Ranked and Lobbies. Just keep playing and you’ll get better and better.
