Posted this on the dante thread. so sorry if it pops up for anyone twice. I really just want the specialists’ opinions from both sides of the spectrum.
>Hey guys, another DMC fanboy here. I didn’t originally pick up a vergil dante team cause I saw everyone else doing it, a few months short of a year later I still see everyone else having fun doing it, so why not?! I wanna have fun with the twins too!
So my debate, who’s the third for the team? I don’t want Zero may cry… too broken, and I just don’t like zero.
I can adequately play Hawkeye and Taskmaster, so they come to mind, seeing as they fit anywhere on any team. But I really wanted wesker, cause I feel he has wonderful synergy with the twins and his derpy otg to ezmode combos. Not to mention dark wesker. Only thing I worry about with the oroboros man is that i’m missing out on a beam assist by not picking hawkeye or tasky. counters to the beam argument are- if dante builds enough meter on point, I can keep swords rolling enough to protect vergil’s teleports. another, less favorable argument is that dante has weasel shot- my least favorite assist for him =(.
You say you don’t want Zero May Cry because Zero is too broken? Dude, a Vergil/Dante/X shell is already pretty broken. Dante and Vergil definitely work good together and with a beam assist, they don’t even need it with how many tools that are at their disposal. Seriously, just learn Strider and you’ll swipe teams. Strider is too good to pass up for a Dante and Vergil shell.
Wesker actually doesn’t really make that much of a difference as a whole to Dante/Vergil. Sure, you get an extra OTG cause of Wesker for some more damage but other than that, that’s pretty much it. You’re open to some extra tools such as Dante hook/Wesker gunshot unblockables and whatever but, as a neutral assist, its pretty pointless to have Wesker on the team. This is even more so true since you already said you would want a beam/projectile assist right?
Also see it this way too… Have you ever thought that maybe you don’t need a third anchor character but rather a 2nd character or a 1st character for a lead? Sometimes trying out different orders and combinations of characters will lead to an even better team composition.
