New to the fighting game scene

I just recently started playing fighting games (Mainly SSFIV:AE) and I have been having a lot of trouble picking up the game. I want to main Dudley but i cant seem to develop any kind of offense with him. I’m working on my defense but it is not at all well enough to keep me from losing. I am clearly at a beginners level and I was hoping for any kind of advice anyone can lend me. I have been watching the VesperArcade tutorial videos and I watched the CrossCounter Guide to Ryu but i can’t memorize enough to improve my game. So if anyone can help it would be greatly appreciated.

Take one thing from the video, apply it to your game, practice it, the start integrating it into your matches. Once you do that take something else from the videos and repeat the process. There are a lot of things thar you will need to learn, but you don’t need to learn them all at once.

I’m going to try that. I’ve been trying to apply every single thing at once I should individually master each tactic before starting another. Thanks!

I agree that you should focus on one thing at a time. A lot of the game boils down to habit and instinct, eventually fundamentals will be ingrained to the point that they will be done more off of feel and reactions rather than through deep thought. A good place to start would be anti-airs

Also one random thing i do whenever im about to play a match is go over under my breath what i have to do in the matchup. If you need to pay special attention to fireballs or focus attacks or whatever just tell yourself that

There’s an absolutely amazing tutorial series on Dudley.
