Hey so I’ve played quite a lot of smash and I’m starting to pick up street fighter. I definitely plan to main El Fuerte but my friend is advising me to learn to ‘play street fighter’ first before I do that. Could you guys and girls give me a little advice on which character would be best to learn with? Also what things I want to focus on considering I do plan to play El Fuerte eventually.
Ehh seems like someone can’t adapt to a character that isn’t street fighter enough Yeah another shoto is what he’s saying, I’ll probably choose ken he seems quite solid thanks
I have a friend that I’m trying to teach the most basics to (2-in-1s, zoning, etc) and he’s adamant about playing Akuma (who I play) but I’m pushing him to at least use Ryu to understand even the most basic concepts of the game.
This might sound odd but the shotos excluding sakura and evil ryu wouldn’t be a good idea as starting characters.
I honestly believe guile/balrog/hugo and makoto dudley/chun li would be the best choice as an opinion.
Rose is also a good pick too, not too sure about guy but cody has some very good wakeup tactics.
Rose can take fireballs and use the whip as an attack at close range and does some nice damage, and can keep larger folks at bay.
Fuerte would be the best choice if you are fond of the dude also.
When I started playing SF I immediately picked up Bison. It was always going to be my main. I say, if you want to play Fuerte, play Fuerte. I’ll hate you forever but you will have fun and learn to play the character you want to play. I would suggest that you try all the other characters once in a while. Playing with most of the cast has improved tremendously my Bison. You pick up things just by putting yourself in another character’s shoes. Also, read a lot. About the basics.
I say if you want to play Fuerte , play Fuerte. It’s who I mainly play.
You can check my channel if you like. No real advice , just matches. Kinda bad ones actually …lol … but it might give you an rough idea how to use him.
But you’ll probably be better off looking up pro Fuerte players and researching stuff to find up what’s good with him.
But if you do chose to play that character , you’ll probably be losing alot.
Quite alot of weaknesses to overcome and he plays alot differently from almost all the characters in the game. Not a solid character at all.
But really FUN to play , a guilty pleasure infact.
You have to be considerably better than your opponent in most cases. Alot of the time there are no easy wins. You have to work alot harder in most cases for your wins than alot of other characters.( especially if you can’t pull off his infinite.)
But practicing against your friend sounds like a good start. You really have to know what your options are with certain situations against certain characters , because Fuerte crumbles fast when he loses momentum of the match and you are not aware of what your limited defensive options are.
Whatever character you chose , just learn what’s good with the character and match ups to watch out for. And you should evolve fine enough.
