New to SRK and SFV

Hey all,
I just recently purchased SFV and it’s been a long time since i’ve played fighter games to be exact the N64 Mortal Combat lol. I’m looking forward to the learning curve and figuring everything out. I’ve been spending the past few days watching videos to learn and then practicing input and combos in the training room. I’ve been playing with a ps4 controller and struggle to get inputs on d-pad but when i use the joystick i do a lot better and rarely have issues. I’m hoping to get decent enought to do some tournaments for fun. I started with zeku and then realized that he just wasn’t for me and i was losing tons of matches. I immediately switched to Ed and have been doing a lot better with combos and feeling confident with him as my main.

I’m looking to possibly purchase my first fight stick and am looking for some recommendations. If it makes any difference i’ve grown up gaming on pc and using a keyboard

I’ve heard quanba crystal is decent, iirc its $115. Hori RAP4 and Mad Catz will be a bit more, and then it goes up in price with some being Razor Panthera, Hori Fighting Edge, etc. But since you are used to keyboard, a class of stick called “hitbox” might be more enjoyable as it replaces the stick with a set of directional keyboard style buttons. I don’t know how much those are but I think you can find some affordable options. BTW, I went to a local tournament a while ago and this dude using a hitbox, got to finals. And he is a pc player.

There’s a version of the hit box that uses keyboard keys for the directional keys called a mix box. Another tip sanwa do buttons with cherry mx switches in if your used to the feel.
