Hey, fellas.
Just moved to Corvallis about two months ago. Before moving I lived in Jersey all my life. Huge difference. lol
Anyway, in Jersey, it was easy to find players locally. Here in Corvallis, doesn’t seem to be a following that I can see. I’m hoping I’m wrong since I intend to start throwing some tournaments here just after PAX. But if theres no one to attend them, i really don’t see a point in throwing one.
Anyway, i don’t mind headin to Seattle or Portland every once in awhile for a tournament. But I’m really lookin for other players locally so I can throw events (big or small) on a more regular basis.
Rough certainly is the word for it.
Just really thought there’d be a bigger following seeing as to how I’m only blocks away from OSU. Thats also the main reason I’m waiting til fall to throw tournaments. Everyones gone during the summer. shrug
eugene has a small following, theo i think would be the front runner of that, but i bet if you troll other forums too like maybe MLG garbage or smash forums you might find a few people who play games. otherwise portlands what only 75 miles away
Well, guess I’m bus and training it to Portland and Seattle for tournaments only I guess. shrug
Could be a lot worse though. I’ll just haveta deal with it and get used to online play.
Not gonna go through MLG or Smash though. I only play a select few fighting games really. My younger brother does gamebattles for a few games (non fighting) and I can’t say I dig the crowd Gamebattles draws in.
Trying to get a job at a gamestore. Maybe from there i can draw out a small following. One could hope, right?
Anyway, I’ll definitely be around in the Northwest Forums and try not to be a stranger.
Thanks, Mackinzie
Right now, just Street Fighter 4. Not THAT good at it though. Still gettin the hang of it.
I’m better at the 2D sprite games. Like the KOF series and past Street Fighters.
I’m sure I’ll be all over Gorou and KOF12 when they come out.
BTW, OSU used to have a half decent arcade but when I was there in May. I was shocked. They took out ALL the arcade games and turned that place to crap.
Sup Billthrax. As far as Corvallis goes, Slash sounds like he would know more or maybe you could get in touch with the school and see if there are any clubs or something like Portland has. We have some people here in Eug that play everything and Portland has the same. Welcome to Oregon and good luck with your situation. People here are helpful so if you want any help just ask.
I only know about the whole OSU arcade thing because when I was a Jr. in HS (around 2003), I remember that that arcade there was impressive. DDR and cabinets galore. Went back in may and I was telling a few people that they have an awesome arcade and I got there and was pretty much floored. They have one lil xbox360 room and the rest is a bowling alley/pool hall type setup.
Thanks, man. I’ll definitely look into some Portland and Eugene events. The only bit of Portland I’ve seen is the airport, but I did get to check out a bit of Eugene. It reminds me of a clean and nicer Hoboken. lol
Well, at least theres a game room. I met a comp professor at a comic store up the block from. Says he’d help spread teh word if I threw an event. I’m gonna investigate that game room. lol. See if theres a crowd.
You guys have definitely been helpful. I appreciate that.
Honestly, i wasn’t a fan of it when it came out.
But I’mma pick it up anyway on LIVE cuz i do enjoy the characters.
Its funny, cuz i loved XvSF and MvSF. But I didn’t like teh changes in MvC2. shrug
But I am gonna get it and play it. I’m just not gonna take it too seriously i think.
