New to Arcade Sticks: Ordered Hori RAP VX SA KAI (360), plan on getting Mad Catz KI TE (XBOX ONE)

Hello,

I am sort of new to arcade sticks. Well not really, because I used to use them at actual arcades many years ago, but haven’t used one since. I currently don’t have a console and only play games on my gaming PC. It’s a powerful gaming PC so it handles fighting games (and any other PC games) with ease. I just recently got back into fighting games, and so far SSFIV:AE is the only fighting game I have, but I plan on getting SF X Tekken. The arcade stick I ordered is the Hori RAP VX SA KAI (360) to use on my PC. I heard it’s a really good arcade stick and it seemed like the best one to buy for PC gaming on the Gamestop website. I read too many stories online of the Mad Catz TE FightStick (PS3) not working properly on Windows 7, so I didn’t order that one.

Next I plan on getting the Mad Catz Killer Instinct TE FightStick when I get my XBOX ONE and the new Killer Instinct game. I am a big fan of the Killer Instinct series, especially Killer Instinct Gold on N64. I’m sure some of you probably remember that game. And the new Killer Instinct game coming out for XBOX ONE looks amazing!! It is the main reason I preordered the XBOX ONE Day One Edition.

My question is: How do I preorder that Mad Catz Killer Instinct TE FightStick? Are there certain websites that you all use that specialize in arcade sticks? I don’t want it to be a situation of it going on sale for preorder on one of the major online retailers (that everyone knows about) and then selling out immediately. Is that how high demand arcade sticks are? It seems like so many different models of arcade sticks are sold out on numerous websites.

Any suggestions?

Thanks.

I doubt you’ll have to worry much about them selling out. The other gaming forum I post on regularly has a poll up for “which console will you buy”. For every one use who wants the Xbox there are ten getting the PS4. Arcade sticks are fairly niche as well… Someone buying an Xbox one + stick on release for KI is a pretty rare gamer indeed.

I don’t want to get into a console debate. But to say the PS4 will outsell the XBOX ONE 10-to-1 is nothing but absolutely nonsensical Sony fanboy talk. You do realize the XBOX 360 outsold the PS3 by a wide margin in North America, don’t you?

Microsoft has far more advanced research and development than Sony. There’s no comparison. Not to say that the PS4 won’t be good, but to say it will be better than the XBOX ONE is wishful thinking. And I don’t care what console specs say on paper. There is a lot more to console technology than simple specs. XBOX ONE has some amazing ESRAM and other things going for it.

Anyways, back on topic. Any other opinions on what the availability of the Mad Catz Killer Instinct TE FightStick will be once it’s released?

Thanks.

Your reading comprehension sucks. Terribly.

And you accused me of fanboy-ism. Wow.

Seriously man, just order one from amazon once the SKU gets posted. There will be plenty. There aren’t that many people frothing at the mouth for an Xbox one arcade stick right now.

Spotted the Microsoft fanboy.

Just buy the sticks off Amazon, there’s no trick to buying them. Bought my SFxT stick off Amazon and no problems.

Again, why indirectly (and cunningly) insult the XBOX ONE in your responses rather than just say that, in your opinion, the Mad Catz Killer Instinct TE FightStick is likely to have plenty of availability upon release? Availability has nothing to do with the console it’s coming out for and has everything to do with the demand of the model of arcade stick itself.

It’s obvious what you are trying to do.

This is a fighting games forum and people on here are boasting about the PS4 (and degrading the XBOX ONE) when not a single fighting game has been announced for the PS4. Whereas, the XBOX ONE is getting an amazing exclusive fighting game (Killer Instinct) on day one!

Wow, just wow!

Wow fanboys will turn anything into a console debate. It doesn’t really matter where you buy the stick from. Arcade sticks aren’t in that high of demand that they sell out instantly.

Without getting into any of the raging arguments here, I’ll just keep my comments to the point:

First, let’s all agree that FG’s are a niche market - as much as everyone would like it to continue growing, it is what it is. Some games may sell more than others (and that in part is just marketing to the people who might casually pick it up), but in the grand scheme of things, they don’t sell as much as AAA FPS’, just to give an example.

That being the case, don’t expect the demand to be extremely high for the MCZ TE2. Keep in mind that unless I misinterpreted the recent hype, there will be 2 versions - the generic TE2, and the KI edition. Whether one comes out before the other is debatable. Anyway, the simple fact is that only one fighting game has been announced (for XBO), and of all the potential sales for that game, you can expect that a relatively small “X” percentage of people will go as far as to buy a stick for it.

So… Release date? Given that it will be a paper weight until the XBO actually releases, you can expect it to be available in early November (if MS stays on track), no more than a week to 10 days before the scheduled release of XBO… Of course, it might be usable on PC if MS actually releases a Win7/8 driver for it on day one, but I’ll stick to my “paper weight” opinion for now.

Where? The Mad Catz store and Amazon are your likely targets - I hardly ever see MCZ sticks sold anywhere else - even GameStop is relatively rare, but you might want to check there anyway. Of those, AMZN and GS are where you’re likely to see preorders… I don’t think I’ve ever seen pre-orders in the MCZ/GameShark store - and I’ve seen quite a few sticks released since I started following FGC happenings.

So, I would suggest that you keep an eye out on the Mad Catz website for announcements, and check AMZN and possibly GS every once in a while to see if they put a ore-order up. Personally, I don’t think that the demand for the stick would be so high that it will sell out any preorders THAT quickly.

That is just my personal opinion… Now, if it turns out that the KI edition will be a limited run (MCZ LE’s have been know to be as small as 5K, 3K, or even 1.5K), then all bets are off, and i’d have to concede that it might be a quick sellout. I’ll also have to say that you’d better prepare your wallet if that’s the case.

Thanks for the response.

dont listen to the ps fanboy ive been checking every week at gamestop and madcatz website and they said like 20 different people ask and stop by every few days trying to preorder the killer instinct fight stick. the xb1 is selling out everywhere tell him to shove his pointless poll up his ass.enjoy the great game and good luck getting the stick… id hate for my store to get like 5 and have to watch someone walk past me with that sexy box in their hands

If a potential release date helps, I read an article today speculating that the XBO will release on November 29th… That’s Black Friday for those of you with a score card. :open_mouth:

Heh… If that’s true, I’m just glad I won’t have to go to a store to get mine - I preordered from the MS Store.

Anyway, if that is indeed the date, I’m gonna predict a date no earlier than November 18th (the Tuesday of the week prior to release) for the release of the TE2!

First time I’ve wanted to necro a thread to potentially fan some flames…

A lot of gamers were so pissed about Microsoft’s early policies regarding the Xbone that they’re supporting the PS4 in response.

I am well aware that MS has since rescinded their stance on the hot-button issues, please don’t bother telling us.

Are these gamers right to continue to hold it against MS and continue to support SONY? It’s their money, I don’t really fucking care. They can spend it however they want.

I’m not likely to get either system until they’ve reached their second form factor and I can get some discounts anyway. I’m just eating the popcorn at this point.

But, I think the number of gamers who are pissed and who are backing SONY as a response are significant. Will they REALLY put their money where their mouth is when the fourth quarter hits? We’re talking about half a grand to be spent. That’s some serious money. We might see a true 50-50 come out (zomg don’t mention the fucking Wii U please). We might not.

I think both systems will kick ass in terms of performance but it’ll be a while before we see some stellar titles that truly make use of the next gen technology. Yeah, I truly went out on a limb with that prediction.

As far as the fightstick goes… I ordered myself some Femme Fatale TE sticks the day they went live on the Madcatz website. I also bought myself some Comic-Con TE sticks as soon as I could find eBay listings of them during the week of Comic-Con. The Femme Fatale sticks continued to be available weeks if not months after their initial date of availability, and the CC TE sticks still had auctions well after that Comic-Con.

I don’t think a single MC stick has sold out on Day 1 of its release, let alone during the first month. I don’t recall the exact production runs but I think the Femme Fatales were about 1000 total, and CC sticks were about 1200 or maybe 2000.

You’re going to be fine if you decide to wait to get the stick. You might reconsider however if the Xbone D-pad is anything like the current one.

Plesae don’t accuse me of being a MS or a SONY fanboy. I get assfucked by both each night. Dickwolves. MS Dickwolves AND SONY Dickwolves. Also, go fuck yourself lol.

sup new user lol.

anyways, sticks don’t really get outsold for either console unless they’re limited editions. Just keep a lookout at mcz website or any of their social sites for news and details when they become available for pre-order. It’s as simple as that. No reason to make a whole post about it.
Also, 360 and One are two different consoles. One’s sales don’t justify for the others. Just putting it out there.
