New Tennessee Thread: You All Everybody

Few things I learned at fight night …

  • Abel / Cody match-up is still retarded (probably worse)
  • I still don’t know how to play against Bison
  • Justin plinks and still can’t do cammy combos
  • Soldering a resistor to a modded board makes HK not always engaged (thanks)
  • Me and O both suck at Marvel but it’s funny as shit to watch apparently
  • Bishop wants my hat
  • Some people are babies and need to grow up, real talk

Appreciate the MGS4 … I know what I’m going to be doing this weekend … GGs everyone!

The day that happens, O will still be wake up DP-ing with all 6 of his characters and Abe churning dat EXTT.

Dell monitors don’t use HDMI in order to have sound (?) … The Dells definitely are nice, but it feels weird playing in SD - looks grainy. That’s not really a huge deal, just a thought. Other then that, the venue is great!

That’s correct because blocking/getting hit “freezes” the game for a split second and therefore any input performed during the freeze isn’t performed as long as it isn’t cancelable.

GG’s to everyone i played last night.

Glad i got to play some local KOF, learning KOF a lot quicker now. And Good set with Eraser. I Learned alot about the rose sagat match. I’ll probably be using Rose against sagat now since cammy gets destroyed in that match up.

This. 1000x this. It’s like blocking isn’t even part of the rock/paper/scissors game any more. Too many times, I have heard commentators say, “Ah, he could’ve just blocked there.” It’s like players have this nervous tick or ADD and they have to press a button at every moment possible. It’s prevalent in AE, but it’s just ridiculous in Marvel.

Which is why I love playing Cody … once I realize you are pressing shit - you’re going to eat 300+ damage from a counter-hit to the face. I really don’t see what the big deal is with blocking … people say I block TOO much - but in the transition to Marvel, it has helped me tremendously, b/c I don’t get pissed of from getting hit b/c I pressed something … I’ll just wait till I have an opening - ask Jas. wink

@Woot: Ok cool I was like damn if I am misunderstanding OSes still I have problems. I mean I ave problems anyway but I am glad I dont have to add OS misunderstanding to the list.

What Neoblood was saying is you haven’t really “beaten” anything by blocking, you just caused it not to come out in the first place. The attacker is still able to get “free” pressure after you block it because now they have you in blockstun and are at advantage. You didn’t get hit by the OS but you’re still at a disadvantage because the fact that they input it completely FORCED you to block and eat their pressure.

If you don’t like pressure play Bison.

Or Rose, I mean even if you OS her she can still just block the jump in then back dash to get away.

Or Abel, just EX TT the “safe jump” …

I also think people (not you specifically) throw out the idea of reading people on forums, god forbid you have to pay attention to the other player and counter it.

No your right and sometimes I am totally guilty of this. I get stuck in a mental block of “ok this person is not gonna do X cause its stupid” so I let them do it over and over and get mad at myself for being dumb. Reads or smart guesses are a big part of the game.

Shoutouts to me and my 8-79 freeness?

I love blocking, i also love lariats. Sometimes i hit lariat as a panic button. I like to protect russias skies man, babymen block.

Thats why im glad strider exposes the button mashers lol

GGs to all last night. We had another more set ups and players than stick scenario again. FYI there’s nothing wrong with my stick so stop complaining about it. Its a TE stock Sanwa JLF stick. Buttons don’t matter as Sanwa and Seimitsu buttons are pretty much the same except for the sound they make.

Re Venue: Everything is good about the venue except not having a place to go eat out afterwards since most of the places around there aren’t open after 12.

Thanks to Eraser, I officially quit SF.

Jas: Your Strider team is good, but I think it might be more effective to use beam assist than rock assist. I was (surprisingly) blocking most of your mix ups and the only times you really hit me was b/c you have 4-5 frames normals compare to my slow ass 8-10 frames normals. I don’t think I got hit by any mix ups with assists much. However, I did get hit by Viaja a lot…that move is stupid.

Bishop: Honestly, I can’t tell if Phoenix is a real threat or not. There were 2 other methods (snap backs and TAC meter stealing) I didn’t get to use on her. Rushing you down and killing 2 of your characters before you get 5 meter sort of works but risky.

Tim: I think finally know how to deal with Zero. I have to rearrange my team specifically just for you.

Duckie: RR hit box is so annoying.

I’m not 100% sure but I think last night might have been my last fight night for the year since I’ll probably be working on most wed from now on.

Again, you’re a training mode monster… like a mini-Desk. People always derp about Desk not entering tournaments, but without matchup experience and defense, he won’t get far (no matter how godlike his execution is). Plus, we’re playing online and you’re over there using execution-heavy/long combo characters. On top of that, I was rocking Wesker all night.

So does St.M/H with Hulk. LOL

We need to expose everybody at Final Round.

@ Johnny: I cant remember man are you coming on the 23rd to my little gathering?

[quote="Eddie, it’s a horse man holding a fucking cat…what’s there not to get?[/quote]

I own this horse mask.

I will know by Saturday.
