Yeah, I am. Met you tonight. I flipped my shit when I saw him coaching the USA team in SC4 and playing SC5 at NEC. I remember the first time I asked him “Man, what can I work on to improve” his response was “the basics”. My jaw hit the floor. Look forward to kicking it with Mick again for sure.
On another note, I’m hoping we can keep getting new guys for your crew. We’ve had a few show up so far, and I think since it’s a little closer to Senatobia and other cities more south, we can continue to get the fight nights bigger for you guys.

Man, that new venue is great. It’ll do just fine. I especially like how they don’t mind me setting up shop, which combined with the generous amount of time they give us to play means I can both mod and play. So if I happen to be there and someone decides they want their stick modded right then, I’ll be happy to oblige.

And on the subject of trolling, I wonder whether it’s not just some people being bullies towards those who they can’t bully around in real life, most likely because they’re the type to get bullied for whatever physical or emotional traits they have that would attract attention.

And in regards to venue so far so good. my only complaint is that its just too damn far for me but the place is awesome and you guys are doing a great job. The only thing I can recommend is def make the switch to evo monitors and ya good then.
Wouldn’t it be that there are so many option selects that it would be silly not to block? That stops all OSes anyway.
I cant figure out if SFs design is flawed or great. Sometimes it feels great, some matches just have this nice ebb and flow and it feels like both chars are playing the same game implementing tricks and set ups playing smart. Other times its a hot mess, you need to play your char in a diff way for a certain match up only your char has no tools for that style of play. Or your playing against one of the few chars with way more options in general.
But I sometimes feel this way about KOF, there really isn’t much of a zoning game since there are so many ways to get around FBs. Its just run, start short hop attack / short hop empty into low/grab pressure. Maybe throw in some frame traps or ambiguous rolls on wake up if you got hard KD. Especially if you have really good jump ins like K-. I think I spent like 2/3 of two matches running from Bishop to set up a zoning game only to have him get in and hit those sexy drive cancel combos.

Considering that blocking usually beats option selects, I think that’s crap. People are still wanting a game that’s high aggression, and the playstyle of most people reflect that. So, option selects become a viable tool because most people would rather do moves and go for the kill rather than defend themselves. Part of the problem is also what Jason calls the YouTube generation. This has distilled the game play very quickly, causing a sense off stagnation for many players. I still have a lot to learn so the game its still exciting to me whereas someone who knows these top level tactics might only have some tedious matchup knowledge to work on.
All these problems can be solved however, by a new guilty gear.

Hang on let me rephrase or take back part of what I said. Blocking doesn’t beat option selects, it really only puts you back at even with your opponent if he or she executed it properly. What you do after the option select was blocked determines who “won” the exchange. That’s why its such a strong technique. But maybe eventually there will be a sort of “fall of Rome” where everyone just starts blocking all the time lol.
Shawn: Well let me caveat my last statement by saying I know I dont have enough KOF experience to say for sure X doesn’t work. How about zoning doesn’t work the way I think it should or I just cant do it right yet
Neo: I can see how youtube may have stagnated play. Everyone learns to do these crazy option selects first before getting better fundamentals. Even I am guilty of this I have OSes for all three chars I play but I know I need better footsie.
Re OSes: Doesn’t the block stop the OS. Thats always how I understood it. Lets say Able gets a hard KD on someone without a 3 frame DP. He can OS meaty jump MK into LK roll. If the opp does a back dash or dp or whatever the MK whiffs and he rolls through. If they block the MK he lands with whatever frame adv the attack gives him.
