Every fighting game involves guessing, I don’t really understand your complaint. If there is no guessing then there is, by definition, no strategy. Maybe you’re just bored of the SF4 engine? I kind of am too.
Of course. In ST you guess whether a shoto will throw a fireball so that you can jump in, you guess whether Claw will do cross-up walldive or the regular one, you guess whether someone will go for a reversal, if you think they will, you block, if you don’t, you can walk-up throw among other things. 3s is a bit different with all the funky option selects but there’s guess parrying, I can’t speak for the Alpha series because I never played it much.
Even footsies, when you think about it, are often guesses. You are saying “I think you will get in range of this move so I will do this move to hit you and/or keep you out of range” or “I think you are going to throw a move out/jump, so I will anti-air/beat it with a sweep/etc.”
I’m playing it seriously, at least until Skullgirls drops.
On the subject of Akuma nerfs, I fail to see why they did it. Akuma wasn’t even OP! Did they just see Tokido placing well consistently and think it was the character? So stupid.

We have been doing about 2 tournaments a year. I believe after this one, we are going to be doing it once a year. This tournament should be pretty big. Marn is confirmed and Justin Wong should be coming out. He’s waiting on word from EG. A lot of other big names will be coming out too. Plus a professional live stream. AND free food?!?!?! What?!?! That’s unheard of!

Getting tired of guessing? I guess you’re just sick of fighting games, then. Lol. Compared to 3s, 4 is like, 1/5th the amount of guessing. I’m pretty sure in 4, there’s not an option select in the game that beats just… blocking. They should just take out mix-ups and throws. Everyone plays Ryu and just does low forward fireball and shoryuken.
Just a heads-up to ALL fight night players.
I was informed that Hastings has some corporate visitors in town. They may or may not be in the store while we have fight night. Because of this, I need everyone to do their best to keep the noise down, and to avoid cussing loudly, or at all if possible.
I’m sorry to have to ask this, and I will be speaking to everyone in person about this later. But I want to make sure no-one gets in trouble and that there are no complaints about fight night while the corporate people are here for the next couple of days. I know we get hype and whatnot, but it’s a casual night. Try and keep the noise level under control, and we should have no issues.

Same with me. Except when I went in to tourney mode and fought against all Japan players. A bit skippy but i won anyway.They parried lot of my moves but my randomize play style confused the he%^ out of them. 8)

I don’t want to speak for Shawn, but I think the “guessing” he is referring to is more ambiguity than anything.
In SF4, some characters have moves/mixups (Yun, Viper, Seth, Mak diesel…) where the player doing them can’t even tell you how to block. And in AE especially, what is the reward if you DO successfully block? A command grab into a stanky stun/damage combo that puts them in perfect position to start the mixup again.

Ken has unblockables doesnt matter which side you guess you get hit(you can still avoid it but you cant just block)
Hey y’all. I know it’s been a while since I posted up here. Truth is that I’ve just been busy with other stuff. I’m moving up north back to my hometown, Manassas, just outside D.C. There are a few reasons for this, but long story short I’m going to pursue my Japanese studies more fully.
Anyhow, I just wanted to say thanks to all the people I met down here and all the good times I’ve had playing video games in TN. Big ups to Eraser for erasing fools and for having a fridge full of nothing but beer and condiments. Big ups to Lycan for having a baby and naming it Ryu (please name your daughter Guile if you have one). Thanks to Ian for showing me the true meaning of being a gotdam brick wall. Thanks to lil majin, lil melvin, and shinblade (or should I say Lord Sol) for taking me to FR and roll canceling a fireball in the process. Thanks to Sev for picking abel and letting me spam shoryu. Thanks to Jas for showing me the true meaning of hype, and screaming obscenities even if we were playing Fatal Fury or something. Thanks to Ruckus, Abe, thanks everybody.
