*NEW* SRK FeiLong Strategy & Match-ups

I love playing better people, and these boards really help save time I am glad we did some revamp of matchups.

What you talkin’ bout’ Willis? o_O

And I didn’t hear from you last night you bum XD

gyahahahaha welcome to the club judge

I didn’t get out of the office til 11pm last night. Not to mention my daughter’s sick. Family comes first. And why am I explaining myself here? lol

I’ll definitely be on tonight. I’ll be leaving the office early. Going to be updating my streaming hardware.

wohoooo, can i be the first to be streamed? … wait … why am i always streamed when i’m getting whooped?

to see me getting whooped please search at youtube  at least i’m using ryu so i don’t embarrases Fei Long thus define that my ryu is only lv 2.5 out of 100

who is that? … oh noooo its fei long !!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Oh don’t sweat it, sir. Just bustin your balls. Hope your daughter gets better soon. I may go out tonight as well, but just send the invite when you’re avail. No rush or emergency. I just hit you up because I saw your name next in the PSN thread after Bubblan and MaaZa.

Did a re-vamp and I think it fits better given the nature of this thread. I like how everything is separated amongst the various threads in the Fei forums as it really helps in focusing discussion.

maybe we can post good video of matches for examples vs certain characters.

:u:

There is already a growing database here as Balla mentions. I know the vids are scarce, but it is a start.

Highlighting Red everything that you do NOT want to focus.

Highlighting Green what is ok to focus.

Played against a cpu Rufus when waiting for a G1 match yesterday. He tried to counter my mk cw with an ultra but it got stuffed. Didn’t expect that lol. I wonder if lk and hk versions also works.

And you can fk or super/ultra chunli’s ultra after her start up (so you don’t have to take any chip damage). This is prob old though, and good players never pull out random ultra anyway.

good to know though, since it’s not guaranteed you’re gonna be playing against good players all the time.

CW straight up stuffed Rufus’ ultra? lol I wouldn’t try that in a million years even if it did work that time =P That’s crazy though, b/c I would probably try to simply Ultra a Fei’s obvious CW if I were using Rufus, too

No, not really up close. More like the second hit can beat his ultra. So it’s like you use cw Before he uses ultra. Fun to know, but with pretty much zero practical value.
If you want to counter his ultra, both super and ultra would work nicely anyway I believe. Then again, who doesn’t use his ultra on a juggle?

Hi Fei users this won’t take a minute.
I have a few survey questions for Sakura Forums Research.
WE are keen to know the opinions of the vs Sakura match up across the character forums.
[]What’s the best approach to beating a average/good Sakura player?
[
]How do you beat a defensive Sakura and how do you beat an offensive one?
Having a strong ground game and a keen reaction/spacing for anti-airs. That is the world of Street Fighter in a nutshell. Sakura can’t out-range FeiLong given his Rekkas and c.Fierce.

The natural response to the use of Rekkas is trying to focus it (which is easier said than done; you only get a lvl1 at best if the Rekka comes as you start focus before the next Jab/Strong Rekka smashes you); neutral jumping to bait it out and get a free hit into combo (although Rekkas are known to hit out of jump-frames); backdash to avoid it and maybe catch it’s recovery with a poke or fast traveling horizontal move. Sakura has another option however; she has her marshmallow fireball XD In the same sense, she has to create enough space between herself and Fei to even throw out the fb given the range of Rekkas. The damage potential and the threat this fb poses is very minimal. Not even mentioning EX CW…

The danger at jumping at Sakura? c.Fierce…no knockdown Unless Sakura can do this consistently, there is no real fear in jumping on you. Anti-air focus is slowly dying out imho, but it is still an option. Dash under low short is something to look out for though…dash under, neutral jump RH, work offense; dash under throw > safe jump or x-up; etc etc. Or maybe she has a horizontal aa that allows her dash under afterwards?

Sakura’s hit confirm is riskier than Fei’s: low forward xx dp…where Fei is basically low strong CH > low fierce; low strong CH > jab rekka; even rekka in and of itself.

Sakura’s best bet is to use neutral jump in footsy, sweep (rekka can be swept), low forward fish for EX Tatsu or LK Tatsu; hold Focus for lvl2 in between rekka intervals vs on a rekka window; let the Fei make mistakes if that is the type of Fei you are up against (e.g., random flame kicks, poorly spaced rekkas that you can low jab > low forward > dp or stand jab > sweep) for starters…

In the focus game, she should generally be dashing forward after charging. This is because Fei will gladly back out of a Focus confrontation in hopes that you release it so he can Rekka you for free. On the other hand, if the Fei you are playing is a bit more risky, he could also just hold his focus since he thinks you will just dash forward anyway with this knowledge.

Most can be taken from above, but:

Defensive…throws; get the life lead and turtle; rekka/focus pressure and force a response; f+mk overhead; tenshin set-ups; etc fei stuff

Offensive…force them to jump by having a stronger ground game; backdash; maintain momentum once you get knockdown or after you force them to block low strong, etc

This doesn’t mean it is FREE for Fei to beat Sakura, but imho, the odds are in his favor as he forces her to jump more than the other way around.

can someone help me out with the ryu match-up in general. Ive been looking around here, but i cant seem to find any real in depth stuff. I have gathered that its not a good idea to do a lot of chicken wings or to do ex one from too far away cause its a sure fire way to get dp’d. im not too sure how to approach this match. ive tried being patient and just poke and punish, but against a really agressive ryu i get hammered. Any advice would help out tremedously, so far its the hardest match-up i have faced yet. I imagine sagat is just as bad, but i have been playing a never ending army of ryu’s as of late with little to no sagats. thanks in advance

yes, you are not suppose to do too many cw and don’t do it too far away even ex version as if you are too far away ryu have enough time to punish you even after he did a fireball, you have to do it maximum about half the screen distance.

now when you play aggressive ryu, define his aggressiveness, whether he likes to jumpin alot or fireball alot or he do something else

when ryu fight against fei it is more likely that fei will put ryu into defensive mode as fei has everything to beat ryu.

if ryu jumpins then you should do flame kick but not too early, the good thing about this is that fei’s flame kick starts at defensive position so you are safer.

rekka is very handy but make sure you know the distance covered by each rekka and when its blocked don’t do 3 rekkas just one or 2 max (depending on the distance where you are)

if ryu did a neutral jump don’t do rekka as you will get hit, some people did a cw which can hit or be hit. personally i like to stay just out side of ryu’s neutral jump attack the longest range i belive is mk. so i stay just outside that range and as ryu is about to land, i do a f+mk (overhead) since it is pretty quick. and of course this can be beaten by srk but i doubt people will do it as they know that its a big gambling on their end, missed srk means freebies for fei

always try to maintain ryu in your rekkas’ range, once he whiff something you can punish them or you can chip a rekka at a time and be safe

back dash is very lethal, so if you have a bad feeling when ryu is too close just backdash out of safety

mixing overhead and c.mk is very handy

c.mp tiwce and c.hp is a good blockstring and will likely to beat lp masher, you may get hit by srk reversal but if you time it right, usually the srk comes but you are not attacking so free combos for you

there are alot of advices by starnab and nemesys on the fei thread and also many others like hnic (sorry guys i can’t remember all names)

Fei actually does pretty well against shotos. Usually at the start of a round, I usually do 1 of 3 things: Fierce rekka ken, MK CW, or just walk forward. Rekka ken comes out fast enough to beat Hadoken at the start of the round and MK CW will fly right over should they decide to do hadoken. MK CW is actually very good in countering against Hadokens once you learn the timing. Most of the time when I’m doing block strings and pressuring a shoto, I’ll interrupt my block string and quickly do LK CW or MK CW. Why? Because most likely shotos will try to answer your blockstrings with their own or do cr. MK > Hadoken to push you back…CW will fly right over their cr. attacks and hit them and put you back in their face again. Once they get scared, you can start doing overheads and do mad pressure with cr. MP > rekkas. Learn to punish every whiffed shoryuken with cr. LP > Rekka and answer every blocked hadoken with a rekkaken upclose. Also Fei Long’s focus is very good and at mid to close range, he can counter hadokens so start using that to scare them…keep pushing forward until they are at the wall and do your worst on them!!!

i dont get to fight good ryus face to face too often. all i got is anti xbl scrub shit

thanks for the speedy responses guys. ive got another question. when playing agianst ryu, i see a lot of them constantly spamming s.mp and c.mk, but usually the latter. Ive tried to rekka and i usually get smacked. is there anything i can do to punish that crap? there are times when i know its coming, but since ive been smacked so many times i am to afraid to try and punish it. maybe some kind of counter poke perhaps to beat thiers?
