Precisely! I mean, high-level play is fun and all, but nobody can dedicate to too many games! I’m working on getting to a good level at 3S and KOF XI, but every other game I play is just for fun. Hence, Soul Calibur is great for me.

Well like i said before, my real issue with the series doesnt come from the game itself but just the mainstream coverage that usually is so positive. If the game is considered something that is enjoyable to play casually then thats okay im all for it since the point of a video game is to have fun. I just dont like these misleading reviews calling it “the best fighter ever” when clearly the game has limitations as to how far it can be played. If the game doesnt work at a high tourny level then obvisouly it isnt the “best” because of that very flaw…it might be more accurate to say"a good game to bring out with a couple of buddies, but certain flaws in the gameplay keep it from ever being anything but just a casual experience". This speaks volumes about the reviewers ignorance if he isnt able to determine this issue and reach the appropriate conclusion in his review.

But you don’t even know what you’re talking about. Stop talking out of your ass and do a little research.

  1. SoulCalibur has been played at high level for YEARS. The scene has seen a massive break due to the suck that is Sc3. SCII was played at evo a few years and has seen massive attention from the MLG scene. It even has top players. Mick, He resides in memphis and is arguebly the best player in the nation. He’s SC’s Jwong.

  2. why do you CARE if other people call it best of all time? That’s up to the person playing it.

So in conclusion:

SOUL CALIBUR CAN BE PLAYED AT HIGH LEVEL. INFACT, IT OFTEN IS.

And, seriosuly, why does a game need to be played at high level to be called the best ever? Hell, IIRC capcom fighting evolution can be played at high level. But seeing as most found that game boring as dried, grey dog shit I don’t think that would come even CLOSE to being called one of the greatest fighters ever.
