New Soul Calibur Scans IV [EGM?]

Im just happy that they are even still taking the time and money to make new fighters. Compared to when I got into them, they definitely seem to be going the way of the dodo. I love my 360 but i’ll be goddamn if I play all 200 of these first person shooters they’re trying to cram down my throat.

You’re calling someone ignorant for thier opinion. I don’t care what you think of the games, you used the word “ignorant” when discribing a review. That’s retarded. These are people that play these games and construct opinion as they see fit. There’s no such thing as ignorance in a matter such as this.

Ugh, and people whining about balance annoys me. MvC2 is possibly the most unblanced fighting game ever made and it also is possibly the most played. Fuck balance. None of my favorite fighting games ARE balanced.

And wasn’t Sc2 played at high level? That means it had to have SOME technical side to it considering that some players (mick) consistantly outdo others. Sc2 HAD A SCENE. (I actually don’t know if SC is still played at MLG. I hate MLG so I don’t follow it.) A pretty big one. Hell, SC3 had one until people realized how broken it was.

I understand we’re you’re coming from honestly. I feel that way about DOA. But there some people who find it worth playing at high level, so they’re obviously seeing something that I’m not.

There are some people who like and dislike every game ever made. Due to this, it’s completely illogical to call someone ignorant for having a preference. And when something is illogical…it’s fucking retarded. Do you need any further explination?

Couldn’t agree more. MvC2 is a perfect example of a game that is not necessarily deep/technical or anywhere near balanced(feel free to debate, 'cause I know someone will), but it’s still played a LOT and has to be one of the most successful. fighters in the competitive scene. I do think that there are games that are heavily affected by their balance, and may simply kill the scene if it ends up not being playable(case point: SC3). I don’t need T6 or SC4 to be balanced, just playable.

Even with that said, I do think from what we were shown so far, that this might end up being another SC3 because they seem to be focusing on the wrong things, again.

One thing I hate about any videogame company lately: when they are a japanese-based company, and they release a game HERE before it comes out in japan, that game will usually have features, gameplay/physics tweaks, even CHARACTERS in the japanese version that the us version doesn’t have. Raizing did it twice with Bloody Roar: Primal Fury and Bloody Roar 4. Namco PROBABLY did it with SC3 (I didn’t trust that shit, so I didn’t buy it. With the american version available first, nobody bought the japanese version to confirm anything added…but I’m sure there were at LEAST some tweaks, more than likely the glicth resolutions from the arcade version). When companies do this, there is a MUCH better reason than “they must love us more”. If SC4 comes out here first, don’t trust that shit…

Rhio2k

That also happened with doa3 (yeah yeah. Sucks anyway etc. At least the euro/jap were semi-playable)

That’s just some fucked-up shit. You should NEVER use a regional release as a means of play-testing. Do that shit IN-HOUSE before releasing the damn game.

No Mina no peace@!

I want to play this game because of Ivy

I want Seung Mina too

Soul Calibur 3 had no excuse to suck. Given the amount of attempted upgrades it should’ve been better than Sc2 in every way possible. However, the developement was a collection of bad ideas, choppy play testing and poor timing.

I think they can do it right. Sc3 wasn’t a bad idea, just a poorly executed one. If they can execute it right, I think we’ll have what could be the best game in the series so far.

From what I can understand the series did get it right with the original SC1 on the DC. Although I never got the chance to play it, was it really that much better then its 2&3?

2 was fucking awesome and made me actually not want to go back to 1. I don’t understand why it’s being put inot the same pile as 3 all of a sudden.

Think people remembering how overpowered step was in SC2, and how step~guard made the game very conservative, but I don’t think SC2 was in the same POS pile as SC3. SC3 on console was what it was, a fighter for casual gamers. I’m still PO’d about Chronicles of the Sword corrupting my whole SC2 file :frowning:

2 wouldn’t be half of what it is without weapons master. 3 offers an entire set of mini games and role play, unfortunately, nobody cared about it all.

Highly debatable. Out of the year and a half I played the game, I spent like a week on it.

MVC2 still requires more skillz than SC, SC2, and SC3 anyday of the day, week and year. Even Tekken 5 DR and VF5 requires more skillz than the SC series too. The SC series will always be a button mashing game, live with it and stop sucking up to it.

I take it that you get your ass whopped by scrubs alot.

Also, you missed my entire point…

…it’s as if you didn’t read my post at all.

Varies upon skill, it’s understandable. It took me longer especially in certain dungeons, however, 3 was altogether different because of leveling. COTS would put you against characters twice your level the first time you played. Normally it was just bosses and main characters, but as to WM in SC2 it was a matter of skill and judgement - in which I prefer anyway.

I agree with this. I remember SC2 being pretty amazing back in the day, and had a great scene. Why the hate all of a sudden?

I don’t think people hate 2 as much. However, the consumer is always looking for ways and problems to justify a point of emphasis on improvement and comparison. ;p

I think the soul calibur series are heaps of fun as a casual game you can pick up since there is some depth too. A game is nothing without a casual scene.
