Of course there are people who think SNK’s style of sprites are awful for whatever reason…
While I’m definitely excited at the prospect of new graphics, I’m personally still waiting for the other shoe to fall, as it is.
I mean, what if it means we’ll potentially have to say good-bye to a possible 1/2-3/4ths of the total KOF roster for good…or at least, until whenever SNKP gets around to making new sprites for those dudes? And what could this mean for gameplay dynamics, and all sorts of other things worth considering?
To think that SNKP is finally moving forward with regard to graphical aesthetics is note-worthy. I just hope that gameplay and characters (or, to be specific, characters I personally care about :wgrin: ) don’t get lunched in this transitional period.
Also…if they don’t FINALLY give Iori a new outfit at long last…something is seriously wrong with SNKP…SERIOUSLY…

I think I’m the only one here that thinks kof XI sprites look ugly.
Why? because of those high res backgrounds
I have this friend that doesn’t know anything about low res, high res graphics and shit. When he saw the game, he said that What he didn’t like about the game it’s that the characters look too square.
He never complain about graphics before with the other kofs.

still I can’t believe it until I see it. It’s been almost 10 years since I saw that big change. I was like 13 years old
I’m expecting,characters to look the same with at least guilty gear like quality graphics but with lots of more animations,just like snk can done it.
It’s nice to think that graphics don’t matter at all, but the bottom line is that SNK (SvC: Chaos aside) makes games with very top-notch gameplay. At this point, there is no reason not to update the graphics. Their games were starting to show their age many years ago, and at this point they look really bad.
I thought they really did well with the fluidity of Garou’s sprites. If they can bring that level of animation and gameplay to the table, as well as a generally sharper look, that’s all they need to have a great modern KOF game. Well, as modern as 2D fighters can get.
Too bad the people behind kof have always failed to deliver that solid game.
Or maybe they don’t want to.
I love KOF, and I love the graphics… But damn, I’d be lying to say I’m not pumped as fuck! This is big news!
By the way, one of the 4 DS games SNK is listed to be developing, one of them translates to “Iroha of electronic made log love (temporary subject)”.

Wonder if they will make it now. By the way they also say there will be more returning chracters than new ones. So I dont have any concern that it wont have much characters as it used to be.

Hopefully SNk makes lots of money and continues to make decent to good games. They’ve never hit it perfect, but when they come close, it’s tight…

Let’s hope they don’t do something weird and change the artistic style of the characters or something with the revamp. I’m pretty confident they can get it right though, considering they did really well when they had to represent all the iconic characters on the Neo-Geo Pocket.
With new graphics if they are good perhaps it’ll push Guilty Gear and Guilty Gear and King of Fighters can continue the 2D rivalry now that Capcom is no longer around in the fighting world.
I also wonder if that’ll cut down the number of characters in the next game, I can’t think of a 2D fighter developer who have done brand new sprites for forty plus characters. They may cut it in half and work their way up.
If the roster is cut down because of new graphics it won’t matter as long as Kyokugens,Terry(Joe and Andy too much to ask?),and the Ikaris(Heidern and Leona returns please) stay, you know Kyo,Ash,K’,and Iori will so there’s no need to worry about them and of course Mai to show off the overhaul two words…jiggle jiggle lol
