New Players Guide for HD Remix

I’ve recently started work on a comprehensive guide to HD Remix, I have a site, a domain and a forum. The aim is to create a complete all-angles guide with the help of contributors.

So far, it’s barely started, the Vega Guide is quite long, as is the Deejay and Honda Guides, the rest is either unstarted or only a basic primer. Again there’s probably nothing new or amazing - but it should help new players or people who are thinking of changing character and want a primer on them.

Really what I need is contributors, people who can help refine and add to the information I’ve added. I’m hoping through discussion on the forum I can weed out any bad information and add as much ‘good’ information as is possible - then post it to the main page.

Anyone interested in reading it so far:-

For anyone interested in contributing the forum is here:-

Your guide says that Ryu’s super isn’t amazing… It’s one of the best supers in the game.

Hmmm, I don’t really main Ryu to be honest. Going off what I get from playing vs him, it is a good super from the point of view it doesn’t leave you vulnerable if you miss time it, you can combo into it… But then it’s quite avoidable in my experience. I suppose it could be partly down the inexperience of the people I’ve tended to be matched against whereby they throw it from the far side of screen…

Which particular section were you referring to and how would you re-word it to make it more accurate?

well, doesn’t leave you vulnerable, can be comboed, and is one of the things that makes ryu>all in fireball wars

edit: also, as a ken main, i feel its almost criminal to not mention that kens fierce dp is arguably one of the, if not the best reversals in the game.

edit2: an important bit of ken trivia id also throw in, f dp is longest travel but most vulnerable, strong dp is totally invulnerable in hitting frames, and jab dp is least vulnerable but least arc. also, id throw in a bit about psychic dp’s if you have some free time.

Right, I’ll see if I work that in and change it! Thanks, I do dabble with shoto, but I tend to play Akuma when I do so this is all good stuff.

Right I’ve worked those suggestions in. Really I would prefer a deeper more in depth guide like the one for Vega, but I just don’t know the characters well enough - which is funny - because back in the good old days I used to shoto 100% first ryu., then ken, then Akuma…

I blame the XBOX pad partly, the d-pad has a horrible feel to it.

I’ve just expanded the Vega section greatly with comments from Liquidviper and PballDepot.

I’m going to make some suggestions that, unfortunately, will take a lot of time for you to implement.

  1. Go to the character specific threads and ask for input.
  2. Read…from start to finish…the character specific threads.

Chances are if you went into this project thinking that Ryu’s Shinkuu Hadouken SC was nothing special, then, no offense intended, but there’s probably a bit that you need to learn about this game before taking on such a task.

Also note that a guide like this already exists at Eventhubs.com. That guide is full of input from this forum. If you still feel the need to do this, then, by all means, do so. However, in my humble opinion and in looking on the FAQ lists on GameFAQs.com, there’s a much greater need for character specific FAQs. But again, before you take on that task, I would again point you to the character specific threads so that your FAQ is as accurate as possible.

Oh…and be sure to check out my Cross-up, Link, and Combo FAQ for HDR on GameFAQs.com. It has information that new players can use…including how to beat those dreaded tick throwers that they like to call “cheap”.

No offence taken - in honesty I know I’m not an expert at this. I’m alright as Vega, and I can do everyones specials. Really I just wanted less underconstructio pages so the characters I’m not so familiar with I just put a short primer on them that might help a complete beginner.

I don’t know whether I can just take other peoples comments and implement them without peoples permission. I did think of adding some yoga hyperbook translations, but the person who translated it hasn’t given me permission yet so…

If you are happy for me to incorporate your comments and suggestions in general I will do a post search on you when I get time and read through it - that goes for everyone actually.
