New player using Juri, need help

Hi guys I’m new here, just started playing SF4 AE a month ago. I’ve been getting slaughterd by everybody. I have trouble timing combos and I struggle against people who turtle. When I do a jump in I usually do jump mk, c.mk xx pinwheel on hit and jump mk, c.mk xx ex low fujahin. I try not to do jump ins cause I know people have good Anti-Airs, and I try to footsie.

Somebody told me about this one combo c.mk , fujahin release, c.mk, pinwheel, FADC, m.p, pinwheel. But I don’t have a clue how to do a FADC after a pinwheel.

practice and patience.

HI dizz… Im a new Juri player here too… I just started SSF4 a month ago using blanka, till I’ve finally switched to Juri as my main after trying out all the characters… she’s very versatile and fits my playstyle.

I think it’s ok not to bother turtle players as long as you have a life lead. But if not, I suggest you build at least 2 blue meter first before approaching the enemy.

If you want to try footsies, I’d like you to read this link (http://sonichurricane.com/?page_id=1702) for your good start about footsies. goodluck

try practicing doing a pinwheel FADC before executing the whole combo.

you can do this by executing Focus Attack(hold it) then do double forward before the 2nd hit of the pinwheel happens.

ah ok thanks. Is it easier to do off a ex pin-wheel, fierce, med, or light? I’ll check out the footsie guide too. Are you on xbl or psn?

ok I can do FA in the middle of a pinwheel and then I’m able to do an U2, but have trouble doin the dash cancel part into a standing mp

try pressing standing MP at a specific point after FADC… do not mash the buttons… if it’s blocked, that means you pressed it too late, if it did not execute that means you pressed it too early…

I’m not sure… but I use light pinwheel is for cancelling because it’s first hit have greater damage compared to medium and fierce.

You should probably try out a simpler character (e.g. Ryu) first before you try to learn Juri. She can be quite advanced and I’ve seen plenty of players fall into the trap on picking her first and not being able to win because they don’t understand fundamentals or her mechanics. Not saying that you shouldn’t play Juri at all, but if you’re new I’d definitely recommend sidelining her until you have a firmer grasp on the game.

I’ve had a couple people tell me that. I tried to pick up Ryu and Akuma, but I got demolished when trying to use those characters. My biggest problem is that I’m having a hard time linking combos. When I played Mortal Kombat and Injustice (which is a terrible game I dropped it) you had had to string combos not link.

I do have good fundamentals, and my footsies are ok. I can even use Juri’s frame traps which helps. I can actually do a couple combos with her unlike Ryu. If I could at least combo on Ryu I would pick him up.

Ryu has really easy combos, they’re just usually not as long as Juri’s. Ryu’s Cr. MP, Cr. MP, Cr. HK for example is two links in a row. It just takes some timing.

As for pinwheel -> FADC, it’s easiest to do off the second hit of HK or EX pinwheel. You should not be using EX pinwheel for this though. LK pinwheel first hit does more damage, but has less frame advantage which makes for a harder link. I practice this by turning on infinite meter in training mode and doing Close MP -> HK pinwheel, FADC the second hit, Close MP -> HK pinwheel, repeat. Try to get as long a combo as you can.

To Dizz, if you are still having problems when you read this, there is no need to practice such hard thing this early, just worry about the basics. Like zoning, rushing down, footsies, how to manage meter, and how to manage your ultras. Once you learn those things, you will be fine over all, then you can take the time to practice things like that whole FADC combo above.

Yeah your right, I was actually thinking that. Are you on XBL by any chance?
