Is everyone Salty again?
Please elaborate … I’m a little confused.
Oh yea dude. This game is going to be my final goodbye for real lmao. I’m a serious SSX player. And glad the peeps over at MerquryCity forums could directly work with Todd Batty and EA to ensure that we’re getting a TRUE SSX game, not that early CoD gritty bullshit they were pulling earlier, though I heard this was only a ploy to get them the go ahead to begin real development. Clever shit.
Only “downside” I can see to this is that Anarchy Reigns releases same day. But really it doesn’t matter. SSX > everything. I’m going to be back in my element really soon. You guys might not hear from me at all January and February lol.
True that. We always seem to bump heads on the titles. I didn’t even know Demon’s Souls was a ps3 exclusive hehe. But yea, I’ll prob start this really late tonight or in the morning. See how far I get before Tuesday. I’d most def welcome the co-op though. I’m totally new to this genre and style of game. Too bad you’re on that other system. :bluu:
Nah, they were on the dining room table. FULLY COOKED!
Yea I remember you talking about it. You have pretty good taste in shit so I kept it on my radar. Then everyone else started having orgasms about it. With KOF getting pushed back to end of November, I needed something to play this month besides Tekken and new NBA Jam. So peeped out Dark Souls, even made a thread on GFaqs for feedback. Heard everything I wanted so I snatched up Demon’s Souls and reserved collector’s edition of Dark Souls.
Dude, I’m coming to this completely raw. So I’ll reread your post sometime next week when I’ll be able to comprehend those stats and how you built your character. But already it sounds like something I want. I know about the PvP though. Saw some youtube vids of people getting destroyed for invading player’s games lol.
Well for one, I think everyone should start at ZERO and lets just say you get 10 points for winning your 1st round match, 20 for your 2nd match, so on and so forth. Now let’s say you only have to beat five people to win the Ranbat. With the points going up by 10 each victory, the final scores should look something like this.
1st place - 150
2nd place - 100
3rd place - 60
Now let’s say 1st place winner goes 2 - 2 next Ranbat and 2nd place goes 3 - 2. Now their points will be :
1st place winner - 180
2nd place winner - 160
Now of course 1st place winner is ranked higher by 20 pts but that can easily be gained from a challenge match or by just not going 0 - 2 in the next Ranbat. Also, there should be a penalty for those that don’t show. Like a -10 pts or somethin. I really don’t agree with only being able to gain points from certain players because we always have randoms that show and it’s really unfair when you advance 3 round into the tournament and gain nothing because all 3 victories were against unranked players or the only high ranked players you can gain points from decide to stop showing up.

Anybody keep up with the Mortal Kombat Legacy webisodes? I just got done watching them all and I thought the Scorpion & Sub-Zero ones were great and the Cyrax/Sektor one as well.
@Ranbat discussion: I have a better idea to motivate players. Let’s have more tournaments! Bi-Monthly at least,-monthly if possible - these would have smaller entry fees. Have 2-4 big tournaments a year with bigger entry fees/pots to draw in the travelers. Didn’t T&G already say they would like us to come back and have more tournaments?
Yes, I’m actually looking at doing a December tourney at T&G, plus there is another venue I am also eying. Work has been mad hectic for me these past few weeks, but when it slows down a bit I’ll have some tourney news I’m hoping.
Bi-monthly?! … once a month is a lot as it is, but one every 2 weeks? … err you probably meant one every 2 months, which I don’t have a problem with … but it’s all about organization and venues.
For some reason, I don’t think having tons and tons of tournaments is going to help anything … I already asked if people wanted to pay for ranbats to have SOME type of compensation / risk / reward and MOST thought that was the dumbest idea ever. The first time we did the ranbats, we pitched the idea of having everyone that wanted to enter the “season” pay $10. And points were distributed according to the round you won a match in and tallied up, since that would be the most fair. We were going to pay out top 3 at the end of the season - like you would in a tournament, but no one wanted to partake in paying for it. However, after reading Bishop’s idea on points, I think that system alone could work really well for a paid season of ranbats.
I think if we have too many “tournaments” in a short amount of time, people will stop going to them since they feel they will just lose … and it will end up being the same 6-9 players. I could be wrong, but that’s what I* think* would happen.
Been trying to level up my Guile. Never really tried it before but I jacked this idea I saw krit doing in matches before summer. She would slow boom with Guile after a knockdown and j. hk for a safe jump but instead of following it up with the normal cr. mp xx sb block string she would instead follow the j. hk up with Guile’s overhead. Good stuff right there as it’s brought me success, not entirely safe but it fucks with people.
I’m sure he’s talking about every 2 months.
In all honesty, if the fight night crew can confirm that they can bring 6-8 EVO setups to a given tourney, that’s enough to run a decently sized tourney.
I’ve got T&G wanting me to do another one there, plus I’m checking into another venue. If we can get the setups, I’m 99% sure I can confirm a venue.
I did mean every 2 months, and that’s fine. Ranbats are ok for some practice in a tournament setting, but you don’t get true tournament practice except in tournaments, when something is on the line and the pressure is on. I don’t always win ranbats and casuals but I have been pretty consistent in the local tournaments. I think at least part of that can be chalked up to tournament composure which you can really only gain from playing in tournaments. You guys are already starting to show improvement when you guys travel, I think more exposure to this environment will only help you guys improve.
I also think you’re wrong and that more tournaments will give something for people to train harder for and help the scene grow.
@Abe: 6-8 EVO setups is easy at this point IMO. IIRC we often have this many at fight nights.
And working on this guide sucks. I want to go play but all day every day is work work work.
Wasn’t too sure on the SF X Tekken videos at first but the more I see it the more fun it looks. Once people figure out some of the more ridiculous nuances to the game it may get out of hand but it still looks really great. The Seth Killian commentating was great as well!

I foresee an insane Guile combo video in the near future…
Understandable … Trust me, I’m not opposed to it, I love the tournament setting - it’s part of the reason I run the ranbats, I’d rather play in a tournament setting once a month (even if it’s for nothing) than sit and play the same six people FT10 every single week. I’m just worried about the attendance is all.
I think more tournaments would be an EXCELLENT idea! The only reason why it seems like it may not do well is because we all know what people will start saying…" I don’t want to have to pay to play someone I can play anytime. " or " Im just gonna lose anyway so why should I enter? " If we could just get more of our players to get hungry then maybe more tournaments here would work. The fact that some people won’t even come out FOR FREE says a lot about our scene.
GGs Dream, sorry dude had to run - movie. Let’s play more later this weekend or next week. I like that Blanka matchup practice a lot.
GGs Squabbler it’s cool, just send me an invite when you see me online…
Did Astaroth really make an Eli Porter reference!? We need to hang out more.
And Mike…just…LMAO
Lol, y’all niggas always get into the heated discussions when I’m off adventuring. I’m caught up on the thread now, eff a chime-in.
Yeah SSX is so sick, snowboarding in general is just fun as hell if you get good at it. Love that game and haven’t played it since I owned a PS2.
Dang I see everybody calling me sorry. I see you clowns!!! lol
I like the team ranbat idea. I believe Eraser and I would straight dominate the rest of you slaws! No one can handle my wake-up sweep/throw game with Rog and Eraser only has to pick Bison and make everyone cry salt!
As someone who is trying to level up really hard and know I wouldn’t win the ranbat, I am down for paying for a ranbat season. Even if I couldn’t make it all the time, I would most def put down $10. We need to make this happen.
With this I bid you adieu:
