New Bloody Roar eh? About time. The concept is a cash cow, if not only for the fact that alot of people like dressing up and writing stories about animal romance and shit. Not to mention the fact that BR2 and BR3 were good competitive games. BRPF/BREx were fun, but dumbed down, like Melee->Brawl(yes I used that reference). And BR4 was complete shit.
They should bring back Mitsuko, Fox, and Greg from BR1. No more Digimon transformations for new characters. Animals only, no squirrel-angels with 2 heads and shit. Only reason Xion thrived at being a “cockroach” is because he had sick combos and in his human form he was cool. Leave the dragons and Ninja Gaiden bosses out of BR5. Remove BR4 from canon. They fucked it up. Forget it even existed. Only thing they should bring back from BR4 is Reiji. I loved that dude. But everytime he went crow, the game slowed down.
I’m on board for a new BR. But if Hudson is making it, they gotta get better VAs and writers. This will make me not buy the game. I refuse to tolerate anymore extremely awkward moments from people saying blatantly dumb shit at the wrong times. Oh God. BR4 was the game that you were ashamed to play around other people, and not even because the engine was busted.
Yes, I too would like to fight my opponent with a boxing type man that can transform into a half fox half dragon animal that shoots lasers.

This is very true for Brawl as it has a lot of mechanics that were intentionally put in place to discourage competitiveness. When people do play by these rules however it’s interesting to watch the mindgames going on, I get as much enjoyment watching M2K Marth play as I do watching Yipes play Magneto. Speaking of MvC2, I would say Melee is very easily comparable to it as they both evolved radically differently then the creators probably intended, and as such were “accidentally” good games as someone I don’t remember put it.
I think it’s both depending on the mindset you go into it with. In competitive play Smash has everything traditional fighters have: footsies, zoning, baiting, mindgames, mixups, reversals (high risk/reward wakeup moves), combos, etc. Add in team tournaments, where people are working to save themselves and their teammate at the same time, and you have a very interesting dynamic. Team tournaments in Melee are, in my opinion, some of the most interesting things to watch in all of FGs.

Smash is a competitive fighting game like Cock fighting is an actual sport.
They both have similarities to what they are being compared to, they are frowned upon by outside communities, and
regret/shame/death usually follow all who compete.

Kinetik : The are “footsies” in everything, though. Especially not traditional games, just generally spacing out your character/spaceship, etc over anything.The community made that game what it is, but they took a non traditional fighting game and required all these rulesets to make it playable to “them” in their community. There’s nothing wrong with that but the designers did not make the game with these intentions in mind.

I’m really just trying to figure out this deep seated hatred towards Smash on these forums. As a relative newcomer to Capcom fgs I just didn’t get it. Apparently though it’s just a matter of hating the fanbase. Whatever, I think it’s retarded but you can continue to have that opinion. I can’t help but think though that many of these people are the same Capcom lovers that hate every anime game because they think they’re made just for pedos, like AH3 and Melty Blood aren’t good games in their own right. Pretty close-minded.
