New mortal kombat is coming

I hope this game has a strong mixup meta. I want fast overheads.

Air projectiles for Mileena and Liu Kang, Kabal has great air spam in UMK3 as well. His low fireball is decent but nothing to write home about. Cage’s are definitely good but even more so because of the hi low guessing than the actual speed and recovery Shang’s MKII are pretty good as well. With other characters you have limitations due to the height of projectiles or their timer limitaions, like Baraka’s blade spark is pretty high, but really, most projectiles in MK are duckable or “sweep-underable” as well.

MKII Cage hi/lo FB’s =/= MK3/UMK3 Stryker’s Hi/lo grenades

anywho, 2d fighter with projectiles = mucho spamo

I would say Cage’s MKII proj’s are better than Stryker’s, but it might have more to do with the rest of the game.

oh i agree. then again, MKII Cage doesnt have a bunch of TP’s ninjas poppin his ass up for minimum 50% every time lol

After watching the 2nd video im pretty sure the reptile player was going for the ultimate run loop or some variation of it. I hope they realize that some chars will have a easier time landing x-ray combos and balance the dmg accordingly. That is if they keep launch combos that lead to free hit specials ( Freeze, Spear, Stryker’s Machine Gun). If not I wont be surprised if chars like sub-zero or scorpion are tops because of them. Than again if the game is gonna be close to ultimate maybe Sub-zero needs it.

i hope fireballs collide in this game… at least in situations where it makes sense

It would be neat if certain projs had priority over others or it caused them to do different things, but I think it should stay the way it is.

Reptile is definitely going for the dashing punches but it doesn’t look like it’s anywhere near the timing or positioning of UMK3.

block button is fine

run or dash. either is fine imo. as long as u can cancel into any move/movement instantly

projectiles should definitely clash. with ex ones having some type of advantage over normal ones.

Mk without a block button really isn’t mk. It has its ups and downs, but so does back to block, and i’m fine with that.

Run or dash is fine as well. I felt the run button was…kinda counter intuitive at times, but i totally agree it’s needed to not get the MK2 turtle fest issues. I do prefer a dash simply because it’s easier to manage(X distance instead of variable…yeah i’m a wuss)

Clashing projectiles I feel is a no or if a yes a highly conditional yes. If you want things like kage’s balls and night wolfs arrows to clash, which only do damage sure, but i always felt an interesting part of MK was trading fireballs/other moves in certain situations. Sure i’ll eat a fireball, but i get a freeze and a combo from that.

you guys do realize they had their super meters on regen right? So the whiffed xray combo could very well lead you to not having any meter.

While i realize this i’m still worried that 2 meters is breaker. I don’t think we’ll even see many xray’s because it’s safer to just save the extra meter for an ex attack and always have a breaker.

yeah but it still took away from the gauge. So when you do whiff it it looked like it did still take from it (might be wrong) on all of the except johnny’s.

Does anyone have any idea on how long of a time table that we are looking at before we start to see/hear about more characters that are officially in this game? I realize that the release for this game is still many moons away but I am hoping that Boon and company, via Twitter or any other sort of means, still throw us a bone every now and then.

Kinda like how Sagat does an invincible move, then FADC’s it and takes all my life? And if Tiger uppercut doesn’t connect, oh well… He’s still safe?

Really can’t believe how good this game looks. Those BG’s are mesmerizing. Character detail is top notch. All the little details add up… Really digging the dark style a lot.

Only concern I have is… some of the combo’s look a little to ‘floaty’. Especially J. Cage and Reptile. Nightwolf and Kung lao however, look very fluid and complete.

also I think a lot of guys are forgetting how awesome the graphics were on the past few MK games. The actual animation left much to be desired until SF4 came out then I didn’t really think it was all that bad.

mka…visually…was far from an eyesore imo.

eventhough stryker looked a lil silly hahaha.
