Yeah, you don’t need an assist. There’s a ton of solo set-ups, but I like using s. rh, sj. neutral fp, ad/df, sj. lk, sj. lk, land and start infinite. The timing when you dash down is tricky, requring a little bit of a pause after you dash down.
Personally, I can’t play Iron Man. I can do the solo-setups for the inf. and I could probably do the sj. unfly inf., but that’s about it. Iron Man is ok, but he’s got a lot of bad match-ups, like Sent. =\
Albuquerque has been pretty cool. I’ve had my on days and my off days, but Brett and I were pretty even (I’d win like 8 in a row, he’d win 8 in a row, crazy stuff). The guy from Santa Fe has a nice Cable too, we’d go back and forth as well.
Pi and the guys at the Tilt are cool as hell too. Sucks that Pi’s leaving for the Navy.
So you went even with Brett, huh? Well, we didn’t lol…but his MSP would be solid without the random Psy calling when I’m full-screen. =P
I’d like to come up for that tourney, but you’d have to a decent payout…like $50. Gotta make it up for Brett getting baited so bad. =\
Alright, if the Cruces and El Paso boys come up for a tourney this Friday for MvC2, I’ll put in a $50 pot. Plus whatever people are willing to pay for the buy-in ($5 sound good?). Winner takes all. I get back in to town in Thursday, so I won’t really be able to post for this tourney. Anyway, if you can get a good number of people to come up for that, then that’d be cool. If you can’t it’s alright, I’ll try and just have the normal amount of people there. I’ll probably do Tekken 5 as well (no $50 pot from me for that one though). We can do a $5 buy in for Tekken as well. I’ll try and post for it on x-topia and the El Paso forum. That would be this Friday at Tilt. I figure RowJoe had advantage on me with home turf in Las Cruces, and I’m achin’ to show him I’m better than I showed them down there.
friday sounds good to me and a $50 dollar payout that makes me want it even more. i know im gonna have a hard time against the guys from las cruces and el paseo but hell its worth the comp plus i can call up derric from santa fe and get him to come down here for it. ill make sure i bring my camera. what time do you think it would be at? hell yeah i get paid too. im gonna be in it for sure with my best game. which some of you have played me isnt all that much compared to you guys but hell when i want it ill give you a run for your money.
so joe are you gonna come out for the tourney? i talked to derric and he said hed come for it and said hed like to play you and whoever else from los cruces again. and i myself would also like to go up against you guys.
on another note. with that iron man infinite i had an easier time starting it with a down + hp instead of a nuetral. that way when i did his air dash into two kicks you would never see the animations for his dash and it cancelled into the kicks plus it was quicker and put them right where i needed them to be.
I went to tilt yesterday and noticed theres an MVC2 tournament on saturday. but why is it MVC2 only? I guess perhaps because thats the only fighter most people play. I want a rematch in ggxx brett, our match was RIGGED I TELL YA. I also noticed the DDR machine is gone, i must say thats the best thing tilt has ever done. Now they need to BRING OUT THE CVS2 MACHINE AND I CAN TRIPLE THEIR PROFITS.
Ok Anyways the tournament on saturday for me, just so i can enter one last mvc2 tournament.
And the DDR machine is coming back they were only using it for a tournament up in farmington.
And if you want CVS2 go to www.tilt.com and bug the shit out of them for one. That’s how i got them to get me a Initial D version 3 machine.
damnit pi why aint you say that before i coulda been practicing on arcade instead of gamecube you ass. seriously i woulda got it on ps2 but that game is rare to find and i was damn close to getting it on ebay but like everything else i bid on i lose out at the very last fucking minute. anyways if i can find a ps2 version im selling my gamecube version and getting the ps2 version. oh and im better than pi at this game! hehehehe but brett murders me. i did beat him twice in a row against his msp but then he murdered me in the long run.
DO NOT buy the PS2 version, lol. CVS2, right? It’s fucking ugly and RC timing is off. Buy a Dreamcast and get a copy of the game for free. =)

I think you may be thinking of 3s, where the PS2 version is actually superior, unlike CVS2, MVC2, etc…
i thought the dreamcast version of cvs2 was japan only? i dont have a modded dreamcast plus im still trying to find mvc1 3s etc. on my dreamcast. im only getting the ps2 version of cvs2 cuz right now i have it on gamecube, bleh this system was not made for all fighters, i got a converter for it but i cant use my arcade stick cuz some buttons are damn pressure sensitive and i cant get that pressure using my arcade stick. oh what up drew. i woulda been on aim but i pasted the fuck out.
Yeah, DC CVS2 was Japan only. You don’t have to mod your DC, either. As long as it’s self-boot, a copy of CVS2 will play fine. =P Custom soundtracks!! Some people have a disc with MVC2, CVS2, and 3s all on the same CD. =O
It’s also really easy to get a copy of 3s. MVC1, good luck with that. I have it for DC, but why play it when there’s MVC2? =D
Yeah, my Japanese copy of CvS2 runs just fine. Never made a custom soundtrack for that one though.
My friend has the 3-in-1 with Marvel, CvS2 and 3S all on one disc, but it’s not really worth any effort that comes in getting it, I remember some God awful load times on that.
The DC version of MvC1 is ugly IMO. I wonder if there’s a way to play it on MAME with the DC?
From what I remember reading on a CvS2 faq by buktooth, is that the arcades all have small variations of timing. So that there is really no port that is arcade perfect since the arcade machines are not a constant. Sounds weird but that’s apparently what’s up. So evo and other tourneys just adopted the ps2 one because of converter problems with the DC. There is definetly timing differences between the DC version and the PS2 version though. :karate:
