New matchup thread being made....rejoice!

ryu = lp SRK
ken = mp
akuma = HP.

simple as that. Hp has the most invic frames and does the most damage since if you do it kinda late you get all three hits of it.

Yeah I know but, should I be using the shortcut motion(df,d,df) or the normal(f,d,df)? Right now I’m using the shortcut, but alot of my AA SRKs trade. When I watch good akumas they do the SRK from a crouch, and they never trade. I’m trying to figure out what motion puts them in a crouch to SRK.

hehe… I read your comment wrong. I use the short-cut most of the time ANYWAY… but… I don’t know it honestly shouldn’t make a difference. The trading just means you are doing it either too late or too early. Its not something that the MOTION will change… its just your speed at doing the motion. That being said… a shortcut one would THINK would…SHORTEN the time…lol. But honestly it doesn’t matter which way you do it…

I like the tip for ex-tatsu in the air to fake out an ultra. For whatever reason I rarely use the move so I never thought of it. I could always just ex-air fireball to avoid Ryu’s, but now I have dodged so many Sagat ultras after accidentally jumping back w/ the ex-tatsu it’s hilarious.

God, I get destroyed by bad Ryus.

Still new to Akuma, so I’m starting to get frustrated with my obvious lack of match-up experience. Can anyone enlighten me?

I’m holding out for a hero.

Damn Thanks, great tip, I’m always throwing out the hp fb. :nono:

rufus has to get in to hurt you so just sit on his jump ins and stfuppercut. if he jumps really high then vulture kicks i usually FA crump BnB. A LOT of rufuses(rufusi?) will just start random j.hk for ultra or ex snake setup or as i like to call it free demon. if you get a chance grab him and throw him out of his range and keep fireballing.

you gotta be strong and you gotta be fast and you gotta be fresh for the fight.HOO HOO

Thanks, but it was for Ryu.

:lol:

All love, though.

if you want to play add WestAB, i can play a decent ryu

I’m totally adding you. :wgrin:

Okay guys, I have a tournament in two weeks and I’m trying to get the Sagat/Gief matchups in particular down to a science. As far as Sagat goes, winning the fireball war is just a matter of execuation and not fucking up on my part, but when he starts to close in I start to break down. My HKs get stuffed by his tiger knees pretty cleanly, and if I manage to put him on the defensive with strings, he just mashes TU and gets out. How should I put pressure/damage on uppercut happy sagats? Ironically, alot of the time where I throw out a string and just sit back they don’t mash, but when I go for a link into demon flip or something I get uppercutted out every time.

On Gief, I have no clue how to deal with his green hand if it whiffs. I dont have time to do anything to stop the piledriver, except jump back strong which sometimes isn’t fast enough itself to avoid the piledriver. Usually I just air fireball/red fireball/jab fb him while backing away until I get into the corner, then just air tatsumaki out over his head. This gimmick doesn’t last me too long though… because eventually the gief will just fake an approach then back up and lariat me as im landing the juice kick. tips ESPECIALLY on taking zangief would be appreciated.

I didn’t want to make another thread.
How do you do his 5th trial?

I connect everything but when I ex.tatsu
Dan flies out the corner before I do

umm you have to already have him in the corner bra…so that when u ex he just flies to the corner u have him trapped in then dragon punch dat bitch

sagat: don’t HK randomly and your not gonna be beaten by tk…lol. Block sometimes if he seems to be mashing for those reversal SRK. Worse that happens if you are at neutral frames again… best and he does reversal and you get a free combo. Its just a matter of reading the opponent. demon flip=bueno. If the sagat is only punishing your jump in with SRK and not randomly… that just means the person is good :slight_smile: lol… and for that you just have to finish string with fb, backdash,teleports, blocks, etc…safe stuff.

Gief: If you are ever unsure about something… teleport… or tk air-tatsu. Learn what your IN range of hand is and your NOT in range of hand is. Try to stay out of that range… if your outside then you can teleport easily enough. If you are IN that range… you get a punish on blocked green hand…even ex. Use HK a LOT agaisnt geif. It keeps him in block stun and allows you to teleport, jump back hado, trip…WHATEVER afterwards. Be afraid to throw… just don’t be TOO afraid to. A well timed demon flip will kill his lariat. For that matter a well timed HK will combo him right at the end of his lariat.

Honestly its just a matter of jumping back using fb… teleporting… air tatsu running… and HK HK HK trip HK HK HK :slight_smile:

've gotten pretty terrible at doing RD, I changed my button layout so I could do the BnB and EXs easier and since then 've never really used a RD. When he’s doing the cHK when do you start inputting as 'm always afraid to let go of db lol

For the Sagats 'm pretty good at keeping them down once 'm in a rhythm (or they aren’t better than me lol). If he’s always catching your flips use a shorter version and cancel it with P or PK to drop earlier and make them wiff the TU. I tend to throw a lot of empty jumps in from mid-long range to bait a TK so I can catch them with a throw or teleport away. I personally also love the LP Air Hado + sHK into cHK or F+MP mix up, I catch a good number of Sagats with that. Against Sagat I really use the conservative game, almost the same way I fight 'gief.

'gief is a problem for me because 'll always screw up a teleport and get destroyed. ><

^^^learn to use HK tatsu to escape corners instead of teleports except on wake and you’ll lose some of that problem hopefully. :slight_smile:

If you bait out a TU and it whiffs I hope you don’t mean you are throwing for punishment. You should be punishing those with RD or at least cHP -> lk tatsu -> FP DP for way more damage.

Okay so, Gen.

Wtf do I do.

:[

Fought a few good Gens online now and I really don’t know how to approach the match besides runaway basics. Anyone got any experience with this matchup?

wait for him to jump in and cr.HP, that should make them pretty hesitant and when people hesitate vs. akuma its game over. you have to dictate the gen matchup
