With the leftover Montana cans i got, heres one of the 4 SE panels that will go with the korean sticks, fresh from the oven. Other color schemes are black background with orange, red, and yellow spatter. The other two will have a white background with orange & blue and im kinda undecided for the 4th panel.
Well guys, Ryan has finally gotten back with me. Seems like the fantas on those websites WERE the prototype models after all.
[details=Spoiler]Hello, [Mr. Blank. LOL]
I apologize about the slow response, and thank you for contacting us with these questions.
What you see in the links are basically unfinished versions of the stick rushed out to the market with nothing to back their performances.
The first 2 URLs show the stick with the wrong mounting bracket (it’s for Korean panels), and the 3rd link is one selling earlier models which had some major and minor issues when played over periods of time (molded plastic parts shattering for example).
They have been tested since earlier this year, and I’ve made note of these upcoming sticks earlier in our eTokki thread as well.
However, I could NOT sell them, because they were literally in testing phase with glaring issues at the time.
With all of that said, the release model is finally out!
We are not taking photos etc to add them to the store over the weekend, so you will see them VERY soon on our store with the special harnesses to be available shortly after as well.
Thank you for using our products and services at etokki.com!
I will do a comparison with both models when i get them, pics and all. Unless kowal does it first. Ill also do all kinds of stress tests on these prototypes to see if anything plastic shatters.
Can anyone tell me what is essentially the difference between Crown CWJ 303 and CWL 303 ??
Is one the “old” version? I’ve heard there are old versions, which have problems with hitting diagonals.
What is in general the difference between a Crown 303 (CWJ, CWL??) and a Myoungshin Fanta?
from what I’m told J = japanese microswitches. The newer versions are J and N with the older being L which also includes square actuators and ball tops. I’d say the newer N is superior to all older models (haven’t tried J) but the knobs are interchangeable (tho the older ones are longer and scrape the insides of a Saulabi).
And the difference between crown and Myungshin? Well I’d say overall, I find fantas a tad better and i have a tough time consistently hitting corners on the crown sticks on 2p side (which is essential for fighters and whatnot). But even then it’s a small qualm and maybe entirely of my own shortcoming.
After testing the sticks for 2 days, heres my impression: GREAT. Without the neck on top of the stick, i can feel the rounded square edges of the gate right above the actuator of the stick. I can now ride the gate for charging chars in fighting games. The square isnt as pronounced as say a Sanwa/Seimitsu, but its subtle (due to the rounded edges) and its definitely there. Rotating the stick on the top panel when mounted inside a case, visually you can see the square. It is a little softer than the current Crown 303s with the neck. Its about a Myoungshin-type softness. And the battops are swappable with the other Crown 303s. I tried swapping a 305 shaft and it was a tight fit but it worked cept the shaft was too long. So if anything, you could probably swap a 306 korean balltop in it. (I am looking for a blue 306 balltop to trade for a clear white battop. If you got one, PM ME ASAP!!!)
Now, checking each individual part and checking to see how much itll take before any parts break (particulary the plastic parts), i see no evidence of flimsy or brittle plastic anywhere to be found on this stick. NONE. Its just as well built as other sticks like the Myoungshin, the Crowns, etc. If you have any questions about the stick, post up.
So until Laugh stocks them up @ etokki, seller “istmall” on gmarket is 100% legit, as evidenced by multiple heads here in this thread. He has em in stock, great price, and super fast shipping.
Forgot to post these yesterday. Light in the garage fucking sucks…
EDIT - To prevent another PM flood, I originally had 4 tri-console (PS2/PS3/360) SE cases with these sticks, but people PM’d the shit outta me and 3 are sold. Only one is left, the one in these pics.
The sticks i got came with both the korean style one (the one that covers the hole in the neck) as well as the Sanwa style ones. Seems you can use dust washers from Sanwa sticks as long as they arent the shaft kit ones.
Thanks Con. I have a question, well, more of a favor. Do you mind taking a quick measurement of the joystick? Starting From the mounting plate to the end of the actuator? I’m wanna know how much clearance is required for the stick.
