Again, nice detailed report. Despite the fact that they have some work to do on the machines I am just excited to be in an arcade atmosphere again. Most MvC machines will be destroyed since most dont know what they are doing and most supers are mash for dmg lol. I posed the question above but did you feel like it would lend itself well to a dedicated game night? I am going to speak to the owner about it so glad to hear they are receptive to the criticisms. I am assuming arcade parts for those machines would be cheap fixes for them like parts for our own arcade sticks right? Going around 12pm if anyone else is thinking about going.
Guess i misrepresented the 50 cent play for CvS2 because i didn’t have to pay for any of it, lol. She just gave me 8 credits. I may go on Monday at some point if anybody is free. I’ve got 7 tokens left over that the manager gave me on the way out. And like Alex says, I think if we just keep reporting all the messed up stuff eventually it’ll all be fixed. As a community we can probably help keep the place hot. I heard a bunch of you guys went yesterday, what was that like?
lastly, i’ve got Last Blade 2 on my laptop… I’ll make sure to try to hit it up before tuesday…
I went yesterday at 2:30pm and it was pretty fun despite any bad parts or broken machines. Then I went later at 9:30pm with another group of friends and they had a lot of the machines up and running again.
I talked to that guy Adam for a while and he said he’ll be working on the machines until everything is 100% and he said if you find anything wrong and he’s not there, tell the people up front and they apparently have a list of things he has to look into. He also said he’s working on a TvC customcabinet. I don’t know how that’d work, but that’s pretty sick.
Awesome times two. Pumped for this information. Now I’m just gonna go play every machine and write down all the stuff that isn’t working correctly, starting with that sailor moon brawler… lol. Custom cabinets side like the opening of a door into getting newer games. Laurence, did you chat with anybody about the questions you wanted to know?
a few of us talked to adam and asked about ssfivae and bbcs he said he’s working on getting them, i think bb before sf, hopefully they wont have assy american parts in them too. if you go again and write down problems, make sure to list he needs to change the microswitches on nearly all the joysticks, because they ass.
I’ll be hitting up Pinball Wizard (can we just call it PWA from now on) later this afternoon. Hopefully the SFA2 display has been fixed, and if nobody shows up, I’ll just hit up the PIU machine.
If the owner’s around, I’m going to see if I can talk her into at least replacing the sticks on the fighting game cabinets. Happ competitions don’t cost much more than things they have currently installed, but it’s a world of difference (and playing Guile or Charlie with an unreliable down-back is hell).
put some sanwa in that shit. and adam is acutally the owner just look for the dude with the tool box walking around.
Adam is a cool guy and seems genuinely enthused about the community and doing his part. I gave a detailed list of my own regarding the games I played yesterday and he started right in on fixing them.
In regards to a game night Brian beat me to the punch as I walked in and he had Adam engaged regarding the game night (although I wish I made first contact). So ask Brian regarding those talks. I would like to have a more constructive sit down with the guy when the place isn’t ablaze with the sound of children and an oddly loud SFA2 machine that I swear deafened me. Hopefully CP’s ear drums arent as fucked up as mine are today lol.
TvC is cool but no one has played and I fear it may end up exactly like the current machines they have in no time. Hopefully he spends more time getting AE and CS but can’t complain, we got a fucking arcade fellas!!!
Yeah, I could hear the A2 machine loud and clear while I was playing SF2CE for some reason.
Also, don’t Japanese sticks require different mounting than Americans or something? I’m not a hardware tech so I don’t know, but I assumed there would be problems trying to stick a sanwa in an American cabinet. It also would probably be easier to sell the idea of Happ competitions since they’re less than half the price of sanwas and seimitsus.
doubt it would be that hard to change the mounting bracket. they can take more of a beating than happ parts anyway.
Thought taskmaster would be cooler…
you call that a flesh wound
In good news, the sticks on most of the fighting game cabinets got replaced. They’re still Happ parts and not amazing, but it’s definitely 100x more playable now.
PIU is eating all my money, though.
they replaced the sticks? since when and that’s neat!
we should talk to them about some business cards or something, i could put them out at work, try to get some to the video game exchange and maybe the guys at G.U could hand some out. that way if we can drum up more business for them they’d be more inclined to get BBCS and SSFIVAE quicker
Getting a snow storm peeps, no Salt Mines tonight. If it clears up however I may go to the arcade a little this evening and spend an hour to get my fix on some alpha and last blade. Alex, Lee is waiting to smack you with his fan!
Text me when you see this Lawtown! If we are not going to do teh slatmines I would glady go down to the arcade with you
Hey I was just wondering what you guys had for an arcade scene in NH and if any of them had AE. I recently took a trip to NY and played there and was kind of thinking about taking a trip up north to play there as well. Thanks!
I’m down with supporting local arcades even if I’ve never played any of those games. Just like the atmosphere.
PWA, the joint we’ve all been talking about recently, doesn’t really have any new games. The latest they’re sporting is Marvel vs Capcom (and we’re talking #1, i.e. Strider/Wolverine: The Game), but they have a bunch of 90s-era Capcom games, if you’re down for that (and god damn you should be).
In brighter news, I swung by PWA tonight and the SFA2 cabinet is not only working, but the parts are all in functional condition! I think the guys running that place know exactly which game is the most important to maintain.
