Read: NHRich. I am sure he would be willing to back that up as well for those that disagree. Speaking of SSF4, my apologies for those who showed up to Dragons tonight. Some of us showed up rather late (after 10pm for me) so we were missing our setups for SSF4. Contrary to popular belief we DO play SSF4 so don’t worry about it. Come to a Salt Mines or another 5 Dragons, just an odd night tonight.
Well I mean when I get better at blazblue I’m sure I’ll be more apt to playing it. It’s just getting iron tager’d over and over was kinda lame. Going to Souper Bowl next week, but i’ll check out 5 dragons again the thursday after that.
Sigh…tell me about it. I’ll see you over there next Thursday. Finally have time to make it to one of those so it’ll be fun. If you have a setup feel free to bring it. A lot of us have obligations that night that do not allow us to get there at sometimes reasonable hours.
One last note about Super: For those that have expressed displeasure with the recent lack of SF (you know who you are) I haven’t seen anyone step up to take the lead in terms of leveling up the community. I have seen people jumping back and forth to MA and beyond which is great for your own game, but if it isn’t shared with those around you no one gets better and the focus obviously changes. So instead of whining and complaining about the lack of comp locally look at your own contributions and I think you will see that you haven’t put in enough effort to justify any complaints about where this ship is headed. Be apart of the solution and not the cancer that kills what we are trying to establish.
yeah, i actually wanted to play some more ssf4. a bunch of us really hit that game pretty hard when it came out and people got burned out from the pre-Evo rush. personally, i’m feeling a lot better about going back to it. Like newblood said, we generally have more setups so there is at least one dedicated to ssf4 each time. this week was just the release week for cs.
yeah, that isn’t really conducive to learning a new game. don’t be afraid to ask questions though. a couple of us already know a lot about it game and we can give you tips/advice so you start off with good habits.
I still wanna play super. playing super and cs only makes my skills in each game better. people seem to think that they are sooooo wildly different but there are so many basic principles that they both use and build on in different ways (i.e. AA is huge in both games, in ssf4 you use it shut down your opponents attempt to build offense and continue to move forward since you just knocked them down/reset them, in cs an AA should lead into a CH combo with meter build and then possibly oki)
It’s really looking like we need to make sure we have a good number of setups all the time and our problems may disappear. Also, we gotta make sure people speak up with “hey, i wanna get in on this” so we keep rotating out. we are all friendly. don’t be afraid. With the number of people we have coming to things we may need at least 3 setups all the time. Right now, cause it was just released and we currently have more people (who are showing up) to play it, i’d say that if we had 3 setups we should probably have 1 ssf4 and 2 bb:cs. For dragons, we should really have 2 of each. there’s definitely enough space to do it and keeping it to 2 forces people to make matches mean more and rotate out cause somebody else will want next (and that still leaves room for the brawl crowd–they keep growing too which is good).
also, i want $1 mini tournies in both games and we should start some ranking battles (at least for CS). i’m serious. we all just started. it would be cool to track how we do. Also, somebody make ping start learning a new character like the rest of us.
Yo guys, I’m trolling but I see some of you mentioned Souper Bowl next week? 8/5? Unfortunately, the restaurant is closed next week to give the employees a vacation. After that it’s back to the regular schedule!
So I’m bummed for this bad timing because I wanted to see more NH players and it looks like scheduling is a huge obstacle.
I thought about bringing my xbox before i left the house (had i did i proly wouldve stayed longer) i didnt really mind the Blazblue set ups since i understand its a new game and everyone wants to play it, but there were 4 brawl set-ups, thats not even a real fighting game!
@newblood- if people dont wanna play sf here, i may as well play elsewhere which sure it may be detriment to the local comp, but is it really my fault? is it? IS IT?
Relax man, I don’t even know you so I am not exactly sure why you assumed anyone was speaking about you. You also missed my point so I apologize if it wasn’t stated clear enough. I also said I would see Willy at Souper Bowl this Thursday so clearly I don’t have a problem immersing myself in other scenes. There was just some misunderstandings resulting in some believing we gave up on Super which isn’t true.
as far as leveling up the local competition, I’ve already told most of the people that want to get better to just ask questions. even then, the main factor in stepping your game up is actual practice. (example) lawrence, I remember sitting down with you and actually showing you how to play bison… the rest is literally up to you. this goes out to everyone: don’t expect to magically “level up” by taking beatings from me/better players. you have to understand your wins and your losses.
on a side note… i’ve realized that I can only handle ssf4 and its community in small doses. i haven’t really felt like playing any games lately. i’ll be around… just not as much. have fun with blazblue, guys… I’ll probably get back into it when mvc3 rolls around.
Damn dude that’s a long break! I understand what your sayin man. Although a lot of the time understanding the loss is the hardest part. That’s where experience comes in and some just don’t have enough of it to ask the appropriate questions.
@toasted: I see what your sayin, that’s my bad. Hopefully we get to play soon!
lol @ nh drama. on topic, it’s estimated that 75% to 90% of learning occurs during reflection. you should read that sentence again. if we just keep hitting the rematch button without vocalizing what happened we’ll only pick up tiny amounts at a time, if that. we gotta pick up the chatter and be more intentional in our approach. i’m really trying to focus on spilling what i know in whatever game i’m playing while i’m playing it, though obvi i know much more in bb. if peeps wanna play something at 5 dragons, just bring a damn setup. bam. problem solved.
i think willy and i are going tuesday. I suck right now though cause i just switched to Stick.
Yeah, sometimes I just get so frustrated I dont wanna ask Qs and just wanna get back in the match. And, I wouldve brought a set-up had i known, next time i will.
also 1$ tourny would be sweet.
