I use Honda against Blanka. He destroys all of my other characters, it’s not even fun.
Are there any good set ups to land the gouken flip throw??
I find doing flip throw immediately after doing a flip throw is pretty damn effective…depending on who you’re playing.
There’s no “great” setups if your opponent is good at anti airs. The best time to use it is when you’ve pressured with divekick effectively, meaning you’ve stuffed their anti airs a few times so they block instead of press buttons. Also, in close, a cr.lk or cr. anything canceled into lk flip can catch a lot of people off guard at least once or twice. Do not abuse.
calling this a “setup” is a little generous…
- engage in a fireball war
- fadc forward thru a fireball
- flip throw over their next fireball
- do not use it again in that match
Can anyone link me to that Japanese player’s YT where he posts tons of setups? I forget the name but its literally just vids and vids of setups.
Gaku?
me?
is it normal that goukens air tatsu does so much chip on block?
Yes! It does full damage if all hits are blocked. If you block most and then eat the last hit, you just ate almost two full air tatsus. It has its weaknesses…
Like the fact that he breaks both of his ankles upon landing?
Alright, so I’m having issues FADCing LP Fireball in combos. By itself I do fine.
Standard CL.MP > CR.HP xx LP Fireball. Fine. I can do that a million times in a row (I was counting). But when I try to hold forward and hit MP and MK to FADC, HP Fireball comes out instead. If I do a CR.MP xx LP Fireball, the MP fireball comes out instead.
Most of the time I can get the LP fireball to come out just fine and then FADC it, but the MP/HP Fireball thing happens enough to make me question what I’m doing wrong. I think I’m holding the MP/HP button down too long, but I’m not sure. Thanks in advance, homies.
its only good on one side, as it alternates like a quasar…plus the box is small on the tip of the good foot
up close tho do like oh mp , air tatsu on forced stand its not a frame trap by any means but its gimmicky and it works. or for real chip fully charged lp hado>fadc>exIAT. should end someones round with a coronary
Try holding hp down when doing this combo when transitioning to lp hado.
The negative edge of your MP is causing the MP fireball to come out. Try keeping it in while pressing LP for the fireball, like iamthatiam mentioned.
Posted a video in the critique section, would appreciate everyone’s input. Thanks!
Ooooh shit, I got it. Thanks Iam and Seph. Now I’m ready for Evo/Capcom Cup/Topenga/World Series/Superbowl
is anyone using ex tatsu fadc u1 or u2 (corner) regularly now? its not the lol combo i thought it would be, but it is still pretty good with respectable dmg (even w-ultra) difficult to space and hitconfirm, but i can see future strats evolving around this because it should be available once per round… any thoughts?
I’m using it to anti-air mid screen jumpins.
The only way I can use it is, ex tatsu fadc lp palm ultra 2. To be able to hit reliable ultra 1 after fadc tatsu it has to be canceled from a far normal imo
I ran w-ultra for a while. But I gave up on it, as I can only reliable hit confirm on the 2player side a properly spaced yolo ex tatsu x f.fadc - U1. On the one player side I can not even get the motion right and certainly not hit confirm; usually I end up with finger cramps. But I can see top players using that effectively in the future… maybe.
Nevertheless, hit confirming corner yolo ex tatsu x f.fadc - lp senku - U2.1 works quite reliable for me. Also the spacing in the corner is more forgiving and usually no sudden b.dash by the opp. Also if it is blocked, Gouken more or less gets a second chance with proper strings or frame traps in corner lp senku - U2. I really think Gouken’s corner game became even more dangerous due to the ex tatsu buff.
I just wish the launch arc would be a bit more forgiving for midscreen fadc in U1 so old men like me could use it…
