New Goukens: Ask a question get an answer

It is character specific, I know it works on yun because I’ve seen it, best way to do it is, pick p1 yun and p2 gouken and record it, so when you’re able to do it on yun just change the p1 character and see what happens!!!

Yeah I thought it might be character specific. I tried it on Yun last night with no luck. I’ll try some more. Thanks.

Edit: I did get it to work on Yun just now, but the timing does seem pretty tight. Definitely not easy.

shit I’d say even once you get it down, avoid going to ultra w it.

gouken needs to make damage to win I hate scaling into an ultra… stun is good ofc w denjin

use it for the knockdown mix up or use lpalm and send him to the corner, or a fkkkn meaty ass reset near the corner…unnngh…pricelesss

EX.Palm -dash j.MP works on Ibuki, Gen, Yun, Dhalsim, Abel, Viper, Dictator, Yang, Claw and Hawk.

Yeah I saw people doing a pretty slick reset with it in some videos so that’s mainly what I was interested in it for.

Thanks a lot for the info.

Can anyone tell me why I suck and can’t do instant air tatsu

I’ve tried 2149K, I think I’ve gotten it like once in the 5 hours I’ve spent trying to do it. I almost always get djK.

I’ve tried the ol’ Viperoo (236963214K) but you can’t get them very low to the ground with this method.

Also have tried the 963214K, same as above.

I have more luck on the back version 2147K.

You are most likely pressing hk too soon.

I’ve found the best way for me is D, DB, B, thru N, J, thru N, B+k

forcing myself to go to back for the kick seems to insert the correct amount pause there.

Sometimes, when I whiff cr.lp/cr.lk, it helps me time it. But I imagine that as I progress, that becomes a cue for my opponent that I’m going to do it so I opted not to continue this practice.

Sometimes, I can get it quick enough. Sometimes, I do it too late, but often times, it’s because I hit the kick button when the joystick was at DB still resulting in a dj. HK. This is just human error where my right hand is not in sync with my left, where one is inputting buttons before it’s actually time too.

What am I inputting? 9214 K. That isn’t to say I completely dodge 6 and 3 all the time, but rather I don’t deliberately aim to ride the restrictor gate to execute it. My tip would be to practice executing the whole thing as quick as you can. If you’re stilling getting dj.K, tell yourself to delay the kick input, and keep practicing that delay until it becomes a habit. If you’re getting grounded tatsu, then be sure you’re hitting an up-direction or that you slow down your rotational input speed a bit.

Try double tap on kicks wen exiat etc

Thanks for the help!

Been checking out the Honda forums as I’m picking him up to cover the Adon, Blanka, Rose, Makoto, and Bison matchups. Wow that place is a ghost town compared to here. Feel so lucky to have you guys for support and knowledge base.

Anyway, I was wondering why you think they chose to make Gouken’s Cs.MP after divekick or jump-in a non-safe block string from a design perspective? Would that one change make Gouken broken? I just don’t see why an opponent should be able to hit through such a crucial part of our gameplan… I know I’ve brought it up before but it’s still just shocking and strange to me.

Yeah it’s pretty annoying

Cl.st.mp IS block string after dive kick. It’s just sometimes we do deep dive kick to avoid dp’s and at that point it won’t be a block string.

Ah I didn’t know that. That’s awesome. So a divekick landing above the waste I have to use Cs.MK and below the waste I should do the bnb?

Yup, you very much said it!!!

Can anyone give some advice on consistently executing EX Tatsu anti-air from a crouch/holding back position? This is by far the biggest flaw in my game right now and it’s costing me so many matches that I’m winning otherwise.

Is there a specific different input that any of you have learned to make it come out more reliably? I usually try to do a quick half circle back to make sure I’m entering the full motion, and I can execute it in training (say against a CPU Sakura who is good for jumping in at random times) 100% of the time, but when it comes to a real match with an A-level opponent I consistently get jump back HK, Sweep, Cr.MK, any number of flubbed inputs…

Main one: practice. Start slowly and keep it simple and short like try to get 10 in a row without flubbing. Once that becomes easy you do more(make sure to switch sides) and to pay attention to the inputs you get, aim to get them to match the actual input of the move as precise as possible. Fromt he sounds of it it’s mainly your execution that’s a bit loose(other possibility, problem with the stick, but I always check myself before I blame my hardware, even though it has usually been it’needing a repair :3 )

So lets look at what most likely is going wrong with these inputs you get.

One problem can be just doing too many inputs, also larger inputs make you slower. Even if you don’t get it right away, practice can get the better smaller inputs to become natural eventually.

this is a classic. FUnny thing is even when you overshoot the input and go all TK input on it you can still cancel the prejump frames to get the move, as that’s not happening you are being way too late on the HK push as well(but not late enough to get an air tatsu :3) Have inputs on and try to practice not overshooting the directional inputs first off all, this seems to common problem.

Related problem, pressing the kick well before you get the complete input. Even being simultaneous with the back motion will get you the move, so this is the opposite of the overshooting issue with j.HK. Does the c.MK happen when you do ex tatsu with mk+hk or is it just identical to when you get sweep but thats when you did lk+mk to get ex? The former would mean you are pressing MK way too soon(like a sloppy plink only then doing mk first) which means button presses could also use some practice.

However if the main problem really is just not in online matches? Try playing some matches where that is all you do, don’t do anything else, just try to make them jump and do a tatsu(heck even regular lk and don’t worry about getting stufffed, its about the input practice in pressure) There are lots of times I play online matches with goals like this, just trying to figure out if somethign works in a certain way or not, just to get used to doing it and get more used to the situations.

Best of luck and hope you get a better grip on this

Where’s the combo thread? If there isn’t one, what are goukens bnbs?

the visual lol would be funny if somebody made a .gif or little clip of this lol
