I’m gonna try this out. It’s pretty sexy.
dj lp is so beast tho…always win rounds with it as an AA
Hey guys I’m a few weeks in with gouken now, slowly getting better. Still getting blown up by rush down characters but in time I think i’ll feel more comfortable with his normals. My question is what’s the best followup after an air to air jumping 2-hit MP. I know you can link Denjin after landing. I saw that “KingBlacktoof” does a jump back roundhouse. Any tips on the timing of this? I can only get it to connect 1 outta 10 tries heh.
some people like the dj.hk.
I almost always use the nj.hp, as I prefer the spacing. It tends to set you up for a stepback to ambiguous dj crossup or command dive wiff/hit
you can use the U2, but I don’t often find myself using that.
you can also train yourself to always cancel dj.mp into tatsu. Just, always hit it, and sometimes you’ll get it. I’d suggest against using the hk tatsu tho, because you can sometimes be punished on hit because of the shitasitic recovery.
It’s not the timing, it’s when you hit the mp. If you are at the top of your arc or coming down and you hit them with the mp, you can easily add dj hk either forward or backwards. It’s my preferred follow up because you can add space between you or end up right next to them, depending on your metagame. Some like neutral j.hp…it’s personal preference really, but nj.hp will always put you near your downed opponent, where dj.hk gives you a choice.
Awesome thanks guys!
I’ve heard that divekick’s angle varies between strength of kick used. I’ve never bothered to ask for the longest time.
Does it? Do the different kick strengths used to initiate the flip also influence the dive kick’s angle or is it only when you use the dive kick?
No, the divekick is the same. The strength of the flip changes the angle.
Well…its weird. It doesnt change the angle necessarily because you cant cancel into kick, parry or throw any sooner. Its just the take off of the flip has different angles depending on strength, which in turn some times can put you at a certain trajectory depending on how far you were away from your opponent originally.
So to answer your question, no…but yes
I see. It’s just that I remember takinflight or Nasty McTaters saying something about the kicks’ angle of dive changing and I thought it looked different when I played against the latter dude last time.
If I may clarify, when you were speaking about the flip having different angle, I believe the term you were looking to use was “arc”, rather than angle. Would that be correct?
Hey guys I’m pretty new to Gouken and I have a question about his LP fireball, fadc, cr.hp. Is this used often when playing him? Also any tips on getting the cr.hp to come out in time?
Delaying the kick can alter the angle that you hit somebody from in front to on top to deep center to behind the head, other than that all of the strengths are equal in frame data.
It is used once you get comfortable with it. It should be in your toolbox and should be something you are ready to do at any time. Practice in training by setting ex bars to infinite, putting your dummy opponent in the corner and repeating until you almost can’t miss. Your FADC must be ASAP after the hado leaves your hand, not when it hits the dummy.
Practice lp hado FADC cr.hp xx lp hado FADC cr.hp xx lp hado … ad infinitum. Ignore the crampy You will start to feel the timing for the FADC as soon as 2 mins or it might take days depending on your execution level, but it is absolutely worth practicing it until you can do it without hesitation. Then, you can work on canceling the cr.hp into ex palm which is really where you want to go with this.
Hah. you interpreted my post differently again. While that’s good to know, I was asking if the sloped directional path Gouken takes when he’s coming down from dive kick can be changed with attack strength. Not angle relative to the opponent, nor angle of the flip. Only the portion where he performs the kick.
Not that I know of other than delaying the kick.
lol @ Nasty Mc taters
Would you believe me if I told you I came up with that nickname because his name has “Mc” in it?
I might get on psn if any of you guys are on later. Hit me up
wantonx where u been. …? this guy…
I just got back into sf4 from a long 3s and sfxt bender. I’m still warming up my gouken. He isn’t ready for any of you yet.
What are Gouken’s OS’s vs block one hit and then backdash?
IE: I safe jump the enemy’s wake up, he blocks it, I hit him once on block, he back dashes.
