New DBZ Fighters: Chou Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Z: Bukuu Ressen Official Thread

I never knew people could be so wrong.

you guys talking about budokai 3 or tenkaichi 3 cuz tenkaichi is definitely the best

the DB Competitive forums seem to imply that IW is the SUper to B3’s Vanilla. Makes me want to play it: come on PSN store

I finally found Super DBZ last January and have been playing it on-off on my PC via emulator. Really enjoyable game, but I wish there was an online version so I could have people to play with.

The problem with the DBZ fighters is every character is too generic and mostly the same. At least Piccolo had a boss Dive Kick that he shared with Gohan, and Goku could do Andy Bogard’s Zaienken in a few games.

I will say what i always say on other threads where this discussion appears.
SDBZ is a descent fighting game, but is not the best offering on the market, as for a DBZ game is really mediocre, it doesn’t offer anything of what makes DBZ what it is, something that it can be found on the Budokai series and the Tenkaichi series, i don’t play DBZ games to have an ok 'ish fighting game, i play them for the fan service and the feel of being in control of overpowered beings that can trash a planet with just sneezing.

I’ll take the Tenkaishi series over SDBZ any day

SDBZ and B3/IW/AR2 over all the Tenkaichi/RB games free

SDBZ and the B3 series function better as Fighting Games.

The Tenkaichi/RB series function better as DBZ Games.

i think thats actually a real good way of puttin it right there

I hate the Tenkaichi games with a passion. Fuck that over-the-shoulder bullshit, I outgrew that mess after Bid for Power.

i will play which version don’t have side step and flying moves…

idk to me tenkaichi gives u alot more freedom in attacks, defense, and strategy… even if character attacks are similar i think it still opens up more possibilities… u cant put a price on freedom

Too bad theres really not much to do with that freedom. I’d be soo down for a Tenkaichi game that trades the large roster for making characters more unique.

i agree on that one tho its actually a good idea… i love tenkaichi but dont get me wrong i do see the many many… many flaws n the game but u kno sometimes its like comparing crap to shit i just think tenkaichis the best… ive only played the demos of raging blast tho so maybe im wrong

Play Omega Shenron and Trunks in B3 and tell me they play mostly the same. You may have a point that every character fights at close range, but if you want a projectile fest go play another game, this game is all rushdown.

The thing is, that’s the product of the source. Tenkaichi makes characters less unique because once DBZ hit, uniqueness went out the damn window.

I like the PSP one best.

That’s not the point I’m making. The point is nearly every character has the exact same normals, same combo strings, only a few characters stand out, and even then, it’s pretty minor.

Another Road was hella dope, especially with how they worked hard to diversify even more.

Ok since you seem to know this much about DBZ fighters, tell me what character in Burst Limit does the most damage by a long shot? Tell me what characters in B3 have special moves infinite combos? Why is Piccolo considered flat out broken in SBAR?

I will say the budokai/tenkaichi are brainless as fuck. It’s possible to take them competitively, but I only say that because it seems like ANYTHING can be taken to a competitive level, so whatever. But it’s easy to distinguish how weak of a fighter the game is as your main objective is just to rush in and go ham.

B-But Marvel is just as brainless!
No, cause even Marvel 3 requires some thought when approaching your opponent. Even something as dumb as just dive kicking in with wolverine will require some effort and spacing (very little, but it’s there). Budokai literally has no meta game when it comes to approaching your opponent. You just jump in, do your silly guard cancel +50 combos and try to bait their burst. That’s the entire game. Zoning? WTF is that. Footies? Not in this game!

At least Super DBZ was a real fighting game. It has the same rules that apply in most fighting games that are respected from the FGC and fighting game developers. Budokai/tenkaichi is just a mash-fest… nothing more. And it’s okay to like shitty fighting games, no one has a problem with that. You just need to know that it’s a shitty fighting game.
