New DBZ Fighters: Chou Dragon Ball Z and Dragon Ball Z: Bukuu Ressen Official Thread

Combos starting with ff+H are practical as long as you start with a jumping L or H, or have Armor Strike. EDIT: I forgot that 16’s ff+H is one of the few that is too slow to combo from a deep jumping attack. Sorry.

Freeza isn’t in his own tier. The most successful characters in Japanese tourneys have been Goku and Piccolo. But, as said before, the game is really balanced so the divide between top and high is small, and most of the cast is in a higher tier.

Good 18 combo btw.

On that note has anyone noticed any other changes in the US version from the Arcade besides Piccolo’s j. H? I seem to remember Android 17’s Energy Field also allowing a juggle after if you were in the corner, but that’s been changed too. I’m still kinda irked that there is no option for japanese voices in the US version. =\

I know im just going from my own personal experience, Im very happy with the tiers and shit no one to over broke, any ways do you know if japan released any new Chou Dbz vids?

oh yea thanks for the combo feed back ^-^

I gotcha. I haven’t seen any new ones in a while, and the main site where I got some of the best (if not the best) matches I’ve seen has taken them all down. =( I’ll be searching through other message boards and such though.

Btw, I think that your combo might do more damage if you don’t super cancel from the blaster after the ff+H and instead cancel from a H. I think the damage might scale a bit less. Sorry if I’m wrong.

Well keep this thread updated if you find more.
Any ways 2 more new combo’s

1st one is a crack bomb combo Highly unlikely in a match

Ill post more when I make up more…

Really? I’ve never seen a skilled Freeza player losing to another skilled player using a different character. And what exactly does Goku have that makes him stand out?

Yep. In fact, Freeza players has only been about as successful as Trunks, Cell, Vegeta, and Android 17/18 players. Midori’s Piccolo is a beast, and I’m not completely sure about Goku. The way I see it is he has powerful BnBs, hit confirmation from LH:H into Super Kamehameha is buff when action meter isn’t available, Kiai Blast deals with projectiles, super cancel Shoryuken is a great reversal move that deals huge damage… Yeah. That’s all I can think of. Hopefully there will be some more tournament footage at a later time.

240 damage combo

I havent played this so can someone tell me if its possible to air recover out of a combo or not?

^^ I’ll take your word for it Lebee Link, but I’d still like to watch a vid of Freeza losing to another character before I’m fully convinced. Every Freeza match vid I’ve seen, Freeza wins, and a good amount of the time, he does it somewhat easily.

It’s that red sphere. Has better range than a bunch of the Ls (reaches longer than Goku’s, for example) and an amazing move. Plus those really good projectiles and teleport. I guess his projectiles don’t really work against force fields, but not everyone has them.

I’ve only seen Freezer lose against Vegeta, since his Big Bang Attack has that force field effect that you have said, and his projectile game is on the same level as Freezer’s (Plus, if you add Interrupter to the list, he gets a powerful anti-Psychokinesis tool). However, it was a close match. The only thing Freezer lacks, in fact, is a big damage combo to use in punishment situations. He really doesn’t need it, but that’s his con, I guess. I’d say Frezer is top, but maybe not that above the rest.

By the way, I think that the difference in Piccolo’s jH is that he need the wall smash skill in order to make the opponent bounce from the ground. I haven’t tested it yet, but since the second hit of Android 17’s Vengeance Fork normally causes a non-recoverable knockdown, and with wall smash it causes ground bounce instead, I think it will be the same in case of Piccolo’s jH.

Oh, and I’m glad the European version has the Japanese voices, I really can’t stand Vegeta’s US voice. [offtopic]I’ve grown accostumed to the Japanese voices since the SNES games, so hearing Vegeta’s “Joe Coker-ish” voice shocked me. US Goku, on the other hand, sounds great.[/offtopic]

EDIT: This is the match in which Freezer loses: ttp://kainuma.sakura.ne.jp/dbz/mv/20060107_04_gechena(freeza)_vs_vegeta(vegeta).lzh

and in this one, too:

That Vegeta combo makes me wanna go create some more highly impossible combos.I agree Vegeta projectile game is serious just like Frieza.

How do you get the Wall Smash skill ?

Really? You think so? If thats the case, Majin Vegeta’s projectile game is godly.

And I saw the Freeza vs Vegeta vid, and that Freeza player lost it after the first match. Regardless, big bang attack really helped out Vegeta, and that super cancel skill. The Freeza player still had room for more skills however. That Freeza player could’ve also had super cancel really easily. I’m glad to see that Freeza was finally beaten, but the best of Freeza wasn’t there in that match, and I don’t think Vegeta’s skill slot was filled up either. The most valid would be the matches between people whose power levels go into the millions, because they usually have their skill slots full.

Remember, in the arcade, you can keep inheriting skills until you reach 8. Not like the console, which only lets you have 1 special and 1 system.

Ummm… yeah…

I fuckin’ love Super DBZ ;p

I wouldn’t say godly, but Majin Vegeta’s projectile game is really good from the start. Lucora gun is a bit worse than Vegeta’s, but his G Slicer is brutal (G Slicer is one of the attacks that benefits the most from SSJ, in my opinion), and he has the qcb projectile with explosion effect built in. He has worse defense and a smaller skill tree, however.

And not only that Vegeta defeated Freezer, an Android 18 beat him, too, check the video I posted above. And the androids projectiles are far from good, but she comensates it with great crossups.

Finally, I also read that in the arcade they could inherit untill they filled the 8 slots, but I’m starting to doubt it: I haven’t seen any character with more than 2 purple system skills (the inheritable ones), and, although I can’t recognice all the ability icons in the videos, they never use more than one inherited special attack. And some of the players I’ve seen had up to 3 millions BP, so they could have at least more than two, I guess.

Anyway. What do you think of the exclusive console characters? I’ve been using Buu lately, and, even if he starts being a bit weak, with the right skills he becomes quite decent. The teleporting butt drop supercancelled into his force field super is quite handy against some that spams projectiles carelessly, although you have to be careful when using it, it leaves Buu really open after a miss or a block. Also, LHxxqcfHxx360x2H is an easy combo that doesn’t reduce the damage of the super as much as I thought.

I’ve seen a Krillin with three purple skills, which made him end up with eight skills. Seven is only possible in the console.

I wouldn’t say Majin Vegeta’s lucora gun is exactly worse than Vegeta’s. Yeah, its less damage, but it’s a very difficult projectile to kill with other projectiles.

For console exclusive, I think Metal Freezer is interesting. Crack bomb is a really cool attack. I find the rocket launcher useless, but the grenade launcher isn’t bad. Piccolo Daimao is nothing compared to his son, but if he could keep inheriting skills like the arcade, he would be extremely deadly. Same with Majin Vegeta.

Edit: And the Freeza vs Android 18 match vid isn’t working for me.

Damn all this good conversation and ya totally by pass my question.Who do I train to get wall smash skill?

Piccolo

Does this game have any infs?
If so, who has them and how do you do them?

Supposly this game is considered broken due to the many infs this game has (some random dude told me this, could be just hating on the game, I dunno).

Oh, I see, in that case, you are right. However, making that possible in the console version would probably overpower some characters with very short skill trees. After all, what’s better, having a long skill tree that forces you to choose among some skills, or being able to fully customize your character, picking from other characters the skills you really want?

Also, I performed a test to check the defenses of the characters. I tested them with a Vegeta with attack up, Endive, and Super Cancel, performing this simple combo: Endive (1 hit)xxGarlic Gun. There are three tiers of defense:

  • High defense (111 damage):
Piccolo, Androidoid 16, Piccolo Daimaoh and Cyborg Freezer.
  • Normal defense (119 damage):
Goku, Vegeta, Ultimate Gohan, Android 17, Android 18, Trunks, Cell, Freezer.
  • Low defense (128 damage):
Videl, Buu, Kid Gohan, Krillin, Chi-Chi, Majin Vegeta.

That’s roughly 7% more damage to the low defense characters, and 7% less to the high defense ones.

Interestingly enough, I first did the test with Android 16’s Evolution Buster level 3, but I found out that it did the same damage regardless of the character. I don’t know if this is an specific property of that attack, or if maybe all throws do the same damage.

Sprawlers, the link I provided for the Android 18 victory was wrong. To get the video, go to http://kainuma.sakura.ne.jp/dbz/ and download the fourth one starting from the bottom. That’s the one.

Thanks spooty.

And yea 5DbZ I5 s0 b0rk3, 1nf1nt3s l1k3 a m0th34 fuck3r, watch out for Master Roshi he’s Tops

I’m guessing that to get super cancel skill with Goku I must inherit it? Cuz It wasn’t offered to me on his skill tree.
