New Capcom Fighting Game

Ok wait a minute. So, Sammy vs. Capcom was cancelled to begin production on WotG? Unless the SvC cancellation for another game was just a rumor as well this don’t sound right.

Also, Capcom’s done too much regarding SF recently to have no cemented plans for SF4.

It seems they are trying to increase interest in SF. Reinforcing a fan base to insure SF4 won’t flop. It makes sense but I’m not gonna hold my breath.

Capcom obviously doesn’t want to make anymore 2D fighters for some reason (not selling very well for them is probably the reason).

Capcom do the SF community a huge favor and sell the rights to Arc systems so we can have a SF with gasp high res sprites.

Not really, because unlike NGBC which is an actual existing game, SF4 doesn’t exist and most of its “existance” is just fanboy speculation and really poor rumours.

You left something out. Fixed it.

Why is that the Guilty Gear graphics seem “thinner” than say SF3 sprites?

I know I shouldn’t be saying this but Capcom did say October is SF month, maybe they really do have something in-store for us? This blind optimism won’t do us any good but here’s to hoping that on the 16th Capcom will do something right.

YA Damn straight they better do something right! I am tired of waiting for a new game.

  1. they use a simpler but flatter shading on the sprites
  2. the animation frames go directly to the striking point instead of showing the rotation of the body that should happen before in many cases.
Good sprite animators are hard to find today…
I wonder where has the 3s sprite staff gone

The shading isn’t that nice really. I do prefer the 3S sprites to GGX and FOTNS sprites. Not because they are heavily animated, simply because they look better. Even the CvS2 sprites look better, however they need to be higher in resolution.

And Capcom were financially involved in the making of a grand total of one of those things, the Anniversary Collection, which would’ve been extremely cheap to produce anyway. All the other things are just licensing deals which bring money into Capcom with no effort or risk required on their part. Their thinking is probably along the lines of “well, if we’re not gonna do any SF games, the IP has gotta be good for something.” Remember that Capcom are masters of milking their franchises for all they’re worth while offering as little innovation as possible.
