New body; same moves

I don’t feel like going into specifics right now, but T. Hawk and the Hulk are NOTHING ALIKE other than they’re big characters.

Stupidity is stupid; nothing new is nothing new.

Pretty much. The only thing they have in common is a throw move where they swing you around, which is has range yet is blockable in the Hulk’s case, and a move where they clap, which is a normal move in T. Hawk’s case.

OMG! Hulku iz teh Mexican!

Outside of the similarity between Terry Bogard and Sol Badguy, which makes a lot of fucking sense now that I think about it, especially when in relation to Order Sol, as pointed out by polarity, who is the lone competent voice all too often on this part of the forums (even if he can be horribly acerbic at times), I think this thread goes to show that we’re rather extremely spoiled when it comes to wanting something “new”. This is especially true since, in reality, there really is nothing new (anymore) for the most part.

I mean, I’m sure that Capcom reuses sprites models for other sprites models a lot of the time if they don’t just outright re-use them–why, hello there, Lady Morrigan. I’m also pretty sure that everyone does that, not just amateurs in Mugen, because I’m also sure it saves a lot of time.

This isn’t to say that everything is utterly unoriginal or at least the usual stuff, as a lot of fucking characters in Guilty Gear or KOF or even Street Fighter 3 prove. But grasping for straws and saying that character are “pretty much” like one or two other characters because they only have a single character move in common is fucking stupid.

Hell, next thing, after BBCampbell’s competent opst, I’m sure some idiot would have come in here and said that Karin Kanzuki is plays exactly like Sagat because they both have a throw where they knee you in the stomach, both pretty much obviate all jump attempts with a single move, both mix-up highs and lows easily, and both have damaging supers (like pretty much every other character to have a fucking super move)…even though they play nothing alike (except for having “my Fierce is too Strong” syndrome).

P.S. Another sign that The Hulk plays nothing like T. Hawk is that the Hulk can actually decent.

Has T. Hawk ever did anything but suck huge black cock and impress upon that apparently the reason that Native Americans got their asses raped throughout history was because they had a shitty moveset?

Karin is Fei Long dude!

and Alex (SF3) is basically T. Hawk + Zangief…

Are you forgetting Hugo or what?

karin is way way way closer to kyo than fei-long.

their kick throws are practically the same, c.mk is similar, they both have arcing attack special moves, rekkas, even j.lk acts similarly.

alex plays nothing like zangief or thawk. the thing about 3s characters is even though they may have similar moves, the moves act completely differently, and the game engine makes them play hella differently too.

and ummmm remy is a mix between sagat and guile

how does remy equal sagat at ALL?

how could i forget

yun = lee from fighter’s history dynamite

seriously almost ALL of lee’s moves were jacked

high and low projectiles, Actually a somewhat sarcastic post as i think most of the above examples are silly

This is 3S. Anything that isn’t Chun Li, Ken or Yun is automatically useless.

Doesn’t that make a game broken?

Heh.

I bet Karin is a stereotype of rich Japanese girls, though: spoiled bitch that wants to be white and gets blue contacts with blonde hair extensions.

It depends on the severity of it.

However, it doubtless makes the game boring, though.

And, yeah, outside of Yun and Remy and Sean & Hugo & Q (to some degree), none of the new Third Strike cast plays like anyone else or have large set of their moves be similar.

Hanzo/Fuma are the closest thing SNK has to Ryu/Ken in their games. They both have a rivalry, fireballs, dragon punches, and hurricane kicks. Plus, one is all serious while the other is a loudmouth. I believe this was somewhat intentional, though, so I don’t mind it much.

I think the TC just meant that Hulk and T Hawk have aesthetically similar normals. That may just be it.

Yeah. Fighter’s History is a fun game that’s full of egregious ripoffs, like the Inspector Gadget Dhalson clone a.k.a. Bracken, so that much is expected.

Everyone else that is serious about this, however, is still reaching.

…Except that they don’t. Outside of having a move where they jump at you and use their clasping hands to attacks, which is a aerial normal for Hulk and a shitty grounded special and even shittier super for T. Hawk, they have nothing in common.

Hell, that means they don’t even have normals in common, especially because The Hulk’s attack is a clap while T. Hawk’s a vain attempt at praying to Quatzecoatl for a moveset that anywhere as good as even The Hulk’s.

there i fixed that for you

I hope you are kidding.

Dude…WH is made of a BUNCH of ripoffs.

  • Hanzou/Fuuma = Ryu/Ken
  • Brocken = Dhalsim/Bison hybrid
  • Muscle Power = Zangief (durrr)
  • Janne = Guile
  • Julius Carn = Blanka
  • Geegus/Neo Geegus = Shang Tsung (albeit Geegus has no original moves of his own)
  • Dio/Neo Dio = Dio Brando (WRYYYY)
  • Zeus = Raoh (Fist of the North Star)

I seriously don’t understand why Capcom didn’t sue ADK instead of Data East back in the day?

He’s not.

Or at least he’s not going against his “character” of being an idiot (though I kind of agree with him in regards to 3rd Strike, but for larger, more egregious reasons within that game).

Ah. Much thanks. I always get those two confused because I got to play either one of them.

Dude…stop copying me.

And wasn’t Jotaro made after World Heroes? Or was it an 80s cartoon like Fist of the North Star?
