Graphics are important, anyone in here downplaying them are fooling themselves.
KOFXII looks phenomenal, as does the rest of the games mentioned.

The game is on an HD setup at Chinatown Fair. I’ve played it a good deal.
Now this isn’t going to sound right but while the game animates VERY beautifully it somehow still manages to look like SHIT. It’s like everyone in the cast is CvsS 2 Morrigan. Another thing that bothers are ‘flames’ some characters have. Why are there UGLY black outlines still on most of them? Isn’t that supposed to be removed at some point during the animation process? It looks fucking AWFUL. I mean reallllly bad.
Also I wanted my Kula.
…almost got me.
Ehh, if they just shrunk the sprites, it would have been fine.
Look at Arcana Heart and its filtered outlines or BBB and how bad it looks up close.
Yeah, I don’t think this game looks good in motion at all. It’s something I’m going to have to get used to. But OP, seriously, WTF? Those screens look amazing for a 2d fighting game.
The real travesty here is those bitch ass bell bottoms everyone is wearing. That shit is wack.

In recent times, many products–including contemporary fighting game Street Fighter IV–have managed to achieve great critical and commercial success by implementing a “retro” feel. Wisely noting this fact, the King of Fighter XII developers are attempting to do much the same… with sweet friggin’ pants, man. :smokin:
Fucking game looks like an Earth, Wind & Fire concert.
I blame Ash.
And Iori, for not having an original idea in his Kyo fixated head. :razzy:
Iori without pants-legs adjoining leather straps=autofail, regardless.
I don’t understand it. I realize, with art and music, it’s all extremely subjective, but I think 12 looks amazing. In motion and in stills. I do kind of wish they went with a different art direction for the stages but even those are beginning to grow on me.
Oh well, I realize I live in the US and we’ll just make whatever current SF our main-stay game, regardless of how good or bad it is and then downplay other stuff to feel more secure in our choice to stick it out with SF. At least BB will have enough independent players to keep that scene fresh and alive.
that’s quite a grim outlook you have there man.:shake:
It’s true though. KoF deserves a huge audience, but it won’t get one.
it has one it just aint in the usa
Shrug. Game looks awesome in motion.
THIS. GOD DAMN THIS IS IT. The Kof12 flames just look . . . eww.
on a side note: this is how the flames in GG look too, but Arc has the game run them through a in-game filter to make them look glowing and, thus, awesome.
no idea why SNK cut out what seems like a standard way to render effects (i think the CvS games work the same way so Capcom is on the ball there too) :wtf:
deadfrog i rly like ur av
I’m flattered, but I have to admit I’ve always felt that your avatar is a layer above mine.
a yomi-layer, if you will…
It would need some black characters then.
Personally I’m surprised nobody mentions how shitty SF3 looks nowadays, animation wise its still amazing, but man, look at dem feet.
