Control and gameplay? You played XII?
Because in SF3, you have control over it when somebody gets a lucky parry or an unblockable… OK.
Saw it coming, stepped to the side and typed it anyway. :bgrin:

Much like Ash.

EDIT:
The above statement is sarcasm.
Are you serious? because I’m damn sure your still trolling now
Show me one currently available 2d fighting game that has dynamic and self-shadowing and I’ll agree that this game isn’t HD.
I like watercolor painting vs acrylic and the like.
That’s really what I read here @.@ If you don’t like the art-style, that’s okay, but making a comparison and labeling what you don’t like as shitty, garbage, whatever-offensive-thing-you-can-think-of isn’t going to change the fact that some people love the way it’s coming out, and some don’t. I for one really like the enhanced animation, as opposed to simpler stills. Then again, KoF has traditionally been a very fast paced game, so the more animation, the better.
why are you feeding him
I don’t like how the camera is so close to the characters that they literally jump OVER the lifebar and timer.
That just look odd to me…
I do think making a 2D fighter is a big catch these days. You can either go the BB/SFHD route, which results in shit animation and shading with small rosters, or you can go with the KOF XII route, which has awesome animation and gorgeous shading but GG resolution.
If they had gone with 720p, it would have taken even more than the 4 years it took, and the cast would be even smaller! We would havce even more of the “where’s my favorite character” thing.
Overall, the problem, IMO, is that we’ve come to expect huge rosters in KOF (being team-based, after all). Nobody would complain of a Garou 2 with 8 characters. That could certainly be done in 720p.
What?
KOF has an average of 12 frames per move. BB has an average of 4 frames per move.
You said you didn’t like/play low-res. KOFXII has twice the resolution as SF3. So yeah, you’re still trolling.
Yet still manages to look like SHIT:shake:
I assume you’re exaggerating. Few moves in BB have startup as fast or faster than 4 frames let alone the entire move.
I assume he was talking about animation frames, not gameplay frames.
Yea its animation frames, not gameplay frames
Just a small correction, normals have around 4 frames, specials around 8 in BB.
KoF normals have around 8 frames in normals and 14(!!) in specials. Also, KoF seems to have a consistent rate of animationwhile BlazBlue has a handfull of moves per character that animate better than the average of the game.
14?
Wow…that’s actually 3rd-Strike animation level…
Thank you.
Hey, that’s pretty interesting. Would you happen to know the stats for SF2 and GG as well?
Also, if I recall correctly wasn’t Rumble Fish pretty hi res? They used that paper doll / flash style animation (like Odin Sphere or that boxing doujing game) though, which only worked good when the characters wasn’t trying to turn around or do too crazy movements.
May i ask how you found those KOF XII& BB frame numbers ?
for KOF XII, SNK uploaded some sprites with anims onto a page to show off. He probably looked at them there. As for BB, no idea. Maybe read it on gamasutra or something?
Maybe by being a freak who frameforwards 60fps videos and counts the frames of animation for each move in both games? :looney:
Naw, I assure you I’m perfectly normal
