I have the same problem But I think its the unfly L. it’s fast and hits under and in front of him, usually where people come from to air grab you.
Yea when Im in the neutral game it doesn’t bother me as much since I can just call akuma to clear out that space, but when Im an incoming character i can’t call him till I hit the floor and hitting the floor usually equates to death lol. Maybe I just gotta learn how to deal with mix-ups on my way in, ill start paying attention to how other sentinels handle this situation, maybe pick up on something I’ve been missing. I do think j.:l: is part of the answer, for sure there isn’t an overall answer, this is a fighting game after all, but ill definitely try to start unfly :l:ing on my way down.
Plasma Storm Loop

LOL damn im good. i did not mean to do that, but its funny cus that is one of the teams that flocker tried out cus hawkeye was not helping him.
With an incoming sentinel there isnt much you can do in the corner other than HD. Anytime i try double jumping i get owned coming down. or airgrabbed. you could try just falling in and trying to block the mixup. after all, with a 50/50 you at least have a 50% chance of blocking. but if i double jump and dont HD, im pretty sure its a 100% chance of getting airgrabbed
I was excited at first, but now Im struggling to actually think up practical applications of that. Only thing I can think of is going for a jump cancelled plasma storm after the cr. after a tk hard drive but Im not even sure if HSD will allow that at that point in the combo.
I haven’t had a chance to test out the :l: unfly :l: yet due to a lack of many good players in hamilton but on paper it should work to an extent. I mean if they are directly beneath sentinel the only thing he can do to save himself is a HD but if they are dashing up to him I think that string should work(unless someone else has personal experience showing that doesn’t work).
cr.M is always a soft knock down
and unblockable it seems lately
cr. will always cause a soft knockdown no matter how stupid high hit stun deterioration is in the combo.
I had no idea, well this changes things significantly. Im definitely gonna be experimenting to see how I can increase my damage with these plasma storm loops.
On another note, I have kinda cut back on the updating this thread and I wanna get back on that. First things first Im gonna do a once over on all his normals since I think I’ve gotten better at using them and just have a better understanding overall.
The part I might have some issues with and will need you guys help with is the match-up section. I play in sparsely populated areas of hamilton and as a result there really isn’t a lot of character variety to speak of and as such there are some match-ups I literally know nothing about and will need you guys help to fill those ones out.
Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, which match-up would y’all like to talk about first? I filled out the wesker match-up and I think I gave a pretty in depth description of it so I guess lets move on. At the moment the two match-ups sent should be learning imo are zero and vergil. Against zero, I literally have no idea what to do, I just wait for him to make a mistake, grab him x-factor and call it a day. Every now and then he will get over-zealous and eat a frying pan for his troubles but in general I have no idea what to do against this character.
Vergil on the other hand I find much less problematic for some reason, maybe its cause a lot of the vergils in my scene are mad predictable with their teleports and run him on anchor so i never have to deal with a beam or anything. But when I played jago’s vergil, I did a lot of spit, fly :l: unfly and made sure to never get carried away and fall into a rhythm. I also cancelled a lot of my st.:h:'s into the :h: drones to keep him honest and punish his teleports. When he activated swords, I just super jumped and blocked, the good thing about swords is you can’t get air thrown(as far as I know anyway) when he has them on(watch someone prove me completely wrong) so if he has them on, thats one less thing an airborne sent has to worry about. If he gets predictable with his rapid slashes, sentinel can just throw him out of them, or as infrit showed(I didn’t know this was possible) he can cr.
him out of it, sents armor appears to absorb a couple of the hits allowing him to just launch the fool. I’ve never tried this, so I don’t know the restrictions on it or anything.
Also, if you have sent in the back and vergil activates swords on your point character and starts going ham, you can CC into him if you have 2 bars and get a full combo off the hard drive.
Thank you guys, especially Jack d ripr. Appreciate everything and all the support. Glad the robot made it as far as he did … not impossible for him to win evo haha… anyways… always hungry never satisfied

EDIT: Rayray vs joker FT 5 ! unfortunately its recorded in individual videos so your gonna have to jump from one to the other.
awesome videos man, thanks.
so after seeing that wolf guy on TRB using phoenix wright and rocket racoon, i was inspirerd to mess around with the trolliest shell. I decided to put sent in the back to actually have a chance if pw and rr get blown up. anyway, with this team im using sent BOMBS instead of drones. They are really good and serve a much different purpose than drones.
Bombs are great, they cover the screen and will always blow up in the middle of the screen. so with RR i can call bombs, and dash forward and the bombs will follow until u are in the middle of the screen and they blow up. theyre great defensively and offensively. When the bombs explode, you cant even see RR cus hes so small and hes covered in fire. its hilarious.
Anyway, do any of you use the bombs? they otg, they dont go away if sent gets hit, and they take up a lot of screen. but yeah i havent actually used this team… its just my current training mode team. hopefully someday ill be ready to actually test it out vs ppl.
I really have only used bombs for when I’m facing a teleporter. The opponent tends to teleport behind as a “crossup” with an assist, but get blown up by the bombs + shield skills (Running Task on point)
Yea I’ve never used bombs, haven’t found any team that they work better than drones with, although now that I think of it, for a keep away team like hawkeye I can definitely see bombs being useful in defending against teleporters(the hommies that give him the most problems).
That’s funny cus that’s exactly what I thought today. Just call bombs, slide forward with hawkeye and youre basically in the middle of the explosion zone and you can do whatever.
I’m only trying to use bombs cus I wanna learn RR and I’ve got him second. I like to call drones and burrow and move forward along with the bombs. It looks hilarious as hell and I wanna troll ppl with it, but I also wanna make them work rather than just use that one silly aspect.
My skrull/sent/akuma is strictly rushdown and I want a keepaway team/theory counter to Chris G (not that I’ll ever play him, but I’d like to think if I ever did, i would be prepared). Especially after sanford kelly called out the east coast for not being hungry and countering chris g. Rocket Racoon burrow gives hidden missiles the middle finger. drones get owned by morrigan and missiles but bombs at least stay out on the screen and protect me.
ps - log trap.
I would love to see some Anchor Sentinel tips. Sentinel and his assist are the backbone of my main team and he makes Wolvie and Firebrand pretty godlike.
Even though I’m not a pro I could at least give you some tips regarding anchor sent. From my experience playing him anchor I’ve noticed that when you’re fighting against some of the more ranged based teams that you have to focus on your spacing a lot more than when you would having him second. For example; let’s say you’re fighting with anchor Sentinel against a full team of dormammu[darkhole], wesker[gun], doom[missiles] and you see him doing the usual keep away tactics.
Situations:
[]Dorm is on point attempting to zone you out with missiles while charging spells. One solution to this would be to HSF xx XF to catch the assist call and when that happens, tiger knee hard drive when you see him in the middle of charging a spell. This will force him to counter xfactor and give you a chance to come back.

[]Dorm is on point after charging a spell and does multiple pillars and calling missiles assist. A solution to this would also be to HSF. It’ll catch him right as his hand is moving and it’ll trade in your favor (the drones from the super still hitting as this point). You should take this time to send out some a-drones or bomb drones to cover your spacing. If you see him charging more spells (he should have 3 by this point) and does liberation (or whatever that move is where the final spell comes out like the meteors for example) you can tiger knee hard drive then xfactor after you get all the hits in and go for the kill.

[]In any case when you have the opponent in the corner, where either Doom or Dormmamu is fighting here you can definitely use more Neutralize (standing/crouching :h: ) cancelled into Rocket Punch cancelled into HSF. This pressure will force your opponent into not being able to go anywhere since calling an assist or doing a reaction super will trade with your Hyper Sent Force. In this case you can xfactor in response to their super and either do another HSF, launch into air:m::h::s: xx rocket punch Plasma Storm ending in two characters or happy birthday as most people will call it.

[]If you’ve gotten the kill off of a birthday present as I’d like to call it (lol), then the match will most likely be in your favor (remember these situations apply most, not all match ups for Sentinel. i.e. fighting against one of the anchor Sparda Bros, anchor Doom, Dorm, Magneto or any character with flight and high priority normal and wake up game). An example being if you find yourself against an anchor Doom and you both have xfactor this is what I do: on incoming Doom, assuming you’ve used your xfactor or not (Doom will attempt to one of three things here; 1) air dash upback and footdive, 2) air dash upback super xfactor and attempt to follow up or, 3) raw foot dive xfactor and combo into death) do flight j:m: dj j:m: j:s: whatever follow up combo into death, or send out a/b drones :)qcb:+:l:/ ) to create a follow up for you to combo off of if you haven’t xfactored yet or, catch him doing one of the three things listed with a HSF or Hard Drive.
Hope some of these tips helped broseph! A general tip I learned is that an anchor Sentinel WITH xfactor is something to be feared. I should be able to record some matches this weekend to give you better examples. Some of the regulars here might agree with most of what I’ve said since it’s only my opinion but if you have friends available then try to create some similar situations in training mode to figure out what works best against other characters and such so that you’ll know how to overcome the stigma of what I’d like to call “Wackbot Syndrome” lol
tl;dr be smart and don’t let your robot get in this situation (online or off)

here is your distilled guide on iplaywinner jak http://iplaywinner.com/sentinel-mvc3 If you want to change anything let me know, I altered it slightly so its more accessible for the newbies and changed wording and such. Also, do you mind your name is not like written on the top or bottom as author or do you not care, bc I told em to put it there and they must have forgotten. Thank you again for letting us use it.
I guess the top would be better just for ego sake lol. No problem man, my pleasure, ill be updating this guide come september so ill let you know if I added anything significant.
Heres a youtube version of the ray vs bum set I got a question though, at about 12:50 ray does a st. and cancels into a command grab. Does anyone know the purpose of the st.
? I’ve seen him do that a lot and I can’t wrap my head around why. The only probable explanation I can think of is the st.
is to armor any buttons the opponent hits and then the command grab should catch them as they land or w/e.
