Network filtering leaves a bit to be desired

Not being able to filter results by the number of players/connection quality/language in player matches is somewhat annoying, since even SF4’s minimalistic search interface let you do the latter two. Being able to filter by games that haven’t started yet too would be nice.

Most of my lists end up with 80% Japanese players (which I know is also a product of the limited release here).
Hopefully they add more options in a patch or something, although I’m not holding my breath.

I love playing Japanese players, though; I’m half Japanese myself, so I can understand them (well, relatively anyways). But in delay for ranked, you can set it for more local connections, then if I’m not wrong, you can see their color of delay before you accept their challenge.

Really more a question of lag than language for me. Also, I know casual players love them, but I can’t stand 6 player lobbies. I don’t want to sit through 5 matches everytime I lose. Kind of hard to improve when you can barely get a game in. I end up just going to ranked and playing the same few people over and over to get match-up experience.

Kind of what I do, I only do casuals when i have a bunch of friends on or I’m wanting to test out against/learn some things from the better Noel players on SRK.

even though they didn’t give the filter options, I feel that those options aren’t as necessary because of how good the netcode is. When I have 1 bar with someone, it’s still surprisingly playable. Slight delay with someone across the country is still playable, and it’s a lot better compared to back in the day when delay 4 was considered playable.

I just wish you could filter out rooms that only have private slots. Not sure how it’d be done but maybe your console can acknowledge that a certain room doesn’t have either a public slot or a private one for your account, so it could just not show up. I don’t like lobbies with more than 4 people so it’s like, I search, then I have to sift through to find a room for 2-4 players with the right settings and a reasonable delay icon, but then it’s private anyway. I wouldn’t complain if there were more public rooms, but the vast majority of them aren’t.

Or maybe rooms with one or more public slots can have some sort of indicator/icon next to it so loners like me can know which ones to join.

Note: This post is based on the fact that when I asked what the “the room is full” message means, I was told that it means the slots are private.
