netplay Q's

played someone who i pinged over 200 today for the first time… choppy/teleporting fireballs all over the place, opponent being invisible until he whiffs a normal, and even stuffing my super with a throw, DURING THE SUPERFLASH! yikes, haha. i dont think our connections were unstable or anything like that (or else the game would actually be pausing off the lag spikes, right?)

im sure this ain’t new news for a lot of you guys~ netplay is netplay; but what’s the highest ping you guys have played on without any of that lagplay stuff? also, is it any better or worse on ps3? (i play on xbl)

oh and do any of you guys change the network smoothing to high(or whatever that setting is with the 3 frame delay)?

its choppy and theres lots of rollback due to the fact that it takes a long time for the data to travel. solid connections is almost irrelevant if the data takes too long to travel(further the opponent/higher the ping, the longer it takes for data to travel). Having packet loss greatly increases the odds of these game gameplay experiences. Changing smoothing to higher settings helps improve these type of connections.

and ps3 online is worse. silly little lag bugs(even when playing a friend down the street) keep it from being as good as xbl. plus the crappy psn interface is a headache to deal with when you wanna play friends.
