Netcode?

Hi every1, so how is the netcode so far, same, worse or better than HD remix??

even though it’s day 1, this is some of the best netcode I’ve used in a FG in recent memory. I hope it holds up

played 10 people. was mostly good cant complain.

This netcode is absurdly good. Seriously…

there is no majicc I will tell u that much. if you are playing someone who’s on wireless and have 9 other people streaming stuff/youtube/netflix then DO expect lag. but generally netcode for this is about as good as it gets.

Looks like it’s time to update that “official” SRK netcode tierlist.

S-tier:
[]Skullgirls
A-tier:
[
]SFxT
[]HDR
[
]3SOE
B-tier
[]Blazblue
C-tier
[
]SFIV
[]MvC3
[
]SCV
D-tier
[]MK9
[
]KoFXIII
even though its for shits and giggles, i like this tier list… though i’d personally put hdr above sfxt and sfxt and og bb would be tied… also anything under b-tier in that list deserves a downgrade to f-tier… its like playing blackheart against the big 3… no comparison.

other than that, sg is looking like that killer app that we’ve been waiting for that does everything that matters, right. so awesome its indescribable.

honestly for me it doesnt feel like the ggpo i know. been having a lot of slow downs, not even rollback, online just seems slower. that being said most of those were 100+ ping so we’ll see how it goes tomorrow

^this right here.
Its not a replica of ggpo(pc) as far as i can tell.
I barely see any frameskipping(good thing!) but the game definately becomes slower(ugh).
I tried playing a 145ping opponent just to test and it was like super slo-mo.
This doesn’t happen in ggpo, all you suffer is mad frameskipping.
Skullgirls definately has the ‘underwater slowdown’ effect thats present in SF4. :frowning:

That being said, when I played a green 60ping opponent it was smooth as fuck, no complaints at all.
And this was with wireless (too lazy to pull out cable for test purposes) so I imagine wired will be better.

this is some solid netcode compared to any retail FG out there but…why, WHY DID YOU MAKE IT SF4 STYLE SLOW DOWN???
ID RATHER SEE MINOR FRAME SKIPPING THAN SLOWER GAME SPEED.
I thought the whole point of ggpo was to have same as offline timing? anythign above 100+ping makes it too different game speed.

I wouldn’t put BB that high since it still uses variable input lag netcode. Anything that doesn’t use rollbacks doesn’t deserve to be that high.

t seems like some sort of “optimized” ggpo right now from watching arturos stream… he played a guy at 120 ping and it was SLOOOW as fuck, but he had input delay set to 0

then he thought that was ass so he fought a guy with 183 ping and set the delay to recommended (5 for that ping) and the game seemed faster, but he had more input delay.

it would seem as if the code is optimized for pings under 100 preferably under 80 for a near offline experience… at least now we can control slowdown/input delay, this isthe best of both worlds imho, especially with ability to see actual ping instead of THE GODDAMN BARS that dont tell us shit. having a recommended delay is also awesome, and is a GREAT add on.

^ anyone I’ve played in the 60 ping range is like playing someone sitting next to me basically.

Really good net code imo.

I’ve played quite a few matches online. I love it
Highest ping I played against was around 128. It was pretty good definitely still playable.

what happens if two people have different input delay setting?

a midget gets taller

It the netcode is great. Every match under 100 ping was as smooth as butter. Though when I tried to play with my friend who play in Korea it was like playing SFIV. I expected it to be ass anyway

Since GGPO uses client side prediction the amount of delay you choose has no bearing on your opponent’s experience.

Netcode is amazing. Completely surpassed my expectations. It actually shows the ping in numbers. I played with a guy with 200+ ping while my own bandwidth was being sucked dry by my family recording HD primetime shows and my bother streaming on pc. Even with all that bandwidth drainage, my match still played great. It felt like around 5 frames of input delay. That’s really unbelievable compared to other fighters’ netcode. If I was playing SF4 at that time, I would have gotten horrible frame drops and input delay of like 5 seconds.

Umm…SCV is the best netcode ever put out for a fighting game on console outside of AH3, HDR and Skullgirls. Have you ever played on that netcode? Good lord. Yeah I know AH3 was hardly played by anyone but I played it 1 good solid week or so and the netcode is amazing in that game, but no netcode besides HDR and Skullgirls can possibly be put higher than SCV, ask anyone. I’m surprised this isn’t just known fact actually.

I stopped trusting what you consider solid tiers when you didn’t even mentioned Soul Calibur V. The netcode in that game is a TRULY S TIER.
