Netcode

Never heard of this happening. Seems like it’d be a symptom of the roll back netcode.

I’ve had similar issues in Marvel 2. I would get in and demolish my friend’s team but he swears up and down I was just standing still and eventually dropped from the match.

That was my first assumption also, but it still seems pretty extreme.

THIS. This is what usually happens when I experience this issue. My tag partner will bitch at me for not fighting back while im in the middle of a combo. Or something similar. =/

I’ve only heard of this in old games. One case in point is those old Matt Hoffman games on PS2. I’d go through this entire challenge and do this really cool chain of tricks. I would go to the replay and the game forgot what I did so I would just be riding into a wall  Your problem sounds online related though. It could also be that the game forgot your inputs :lame: irdk though

+1 for Matt Hoffman…good memories with those games.

But idk anymore…this game is breaking my spirit.

Well if you’re thinking of selling you don’t have much time. I only got $28 for it in flawless condition. This forum still has interesting threads even if I don’t have the game anymore

Ehh if I do trade it in Id be happy with $15. At least I would then have enough to buy Skullgirls or Trials Evolution…lol

After a week of playing to make sure it wasn’t just all troll noise, I finally am convinced that the sound patch noticeably reduced the quality of online games. Every time I play I make sure there are no other things taxing the bandwidth (Netflix, other people web-surfing, etc) and I’m noticing significant input lag on some 3 bar connections, and even on a 4 bar connection it can sometimes feel like I’m playing underwater. This is horribly depressing, because it’s so inconsistent. It feels like some matches there’s almost a full half-second of lag, and other matches there’s almost none but constant rollbacks, and in some of these cases it’s against people I’ve played in the past before the patch without a hitch. I miss my reaction DP’s and ability to block Raven and Kazuya’s overheads. :frowning:

At least if a full bar connection was consistently playable, I could just refuse to play orange ones, but as it is now I can’t even do that.

i was playing someone on one of those connections that flutters between one bar below full and full. i think these guys are actually worse than the ones that are just solidly on one bar below full. first 4 games - can’t do my raven loop, losing 1-3. connection starts feeling better - don’t drop a single raven loop, win 5 in a row.

i think from now on i’m definitely going to be stricter with who i decide to play against (in connection terms). but i will say this: psn is a fucking joke. not the service itself, but the amount of people on it who are clearly trying to play ‘seriously’ on connections that are almost certainly wireless.

Gave online one last try just to see if it the patch helped even remotely, now online is littered with only Ryu, Ken, Cammy and Juri (after 10+ matches they were literally the only ones that I saw) considering that they are so braindead that lag doesn’t concern them, they probably haven’t noticed. Online is completely unplayable now, I give up, might even go back to AE for my online fix

Just quoting this so you can read what you wrote once you sober up.

So…here’s a question. Is there some fundamental technological impossibility with making a search filter for level 3-4 connections only? Why does no online fighter allow a search by connection strength? After having to kick back to the search screen 4 times in a row last night looking for a 3 or 4 bar connection, I finally gave up and played a 2 bar one, then had my will to live crushed by input lag. I went to endless mode, and got the “the battle has been canceled” screen twice in a row due to my opponent’s bar dropping to zero intermittently. :frowning:

…here is an answer from a man you might have previously seen with a red circle around his head and a red line across his face  :

Hoo boy. I guess then Sony and Microsoft don’t allow connection strength to be one of the factors considered in their rosters of available matches? Sigh, sometimes I wish I was into RTS games or even FPS’s. It seems like our genre is always behind and ass-backwards in its online implementation. The only Capcom fighter I’ve had a good online experience with, SFxT, seems to have been ruined by the sound repair patch.

I said maybe, chances are i’ll play one game and remember why I hate it =P

There was a fighting game that had that ability. It was blazeblue CS but no one really plays it.

Is there is variable input delay based on how bad the connection is?

MK9 has a search by connection filter.

I can’t comprehend how some people still think AE has a better netcode/online than SFxT.

My opinion, SF4AE2012 online is unplayable because of the delay. Anyone that says it’s better than SFxT just sounds crazy to me. SFxT online is far from perfect, but it’s leaps and bounds better than AE online.

Sorry I meant PC version of AE, it’s not as good as pre-patched SFxT but much better then post patch. Only thing is I don’t like AE much =P
