So I read the first half of this thread and wonder are these people even playing the same game or are they just used to playing on shit connections?
For me this is the worst online code ever it feels like I am playing under water with every thing running slow and frame drops audio drops animation drops hit marker drops all round horrible experience.
If I had to compare the net code to any other game I would say gears of war 2 on release and nothing else I have played is on this games level of poorness.
Ps I love the game hope they fix it.
It’s pretty simple, everyone’s connection is different on some level, so, everyone has different experiences. You might be having a lot of problems, but, someone else could be getting a smooth ride so far. Seem like the only general consensus from the netcode is good/bad camps is the sound glitch.
I don’t think a single person ever said the SC5 netcode was bad (because it’s awesome). When people have such inconsistent opinions over the netcode then it probably means it’s not that great overall. I can’t judge yet obviously because I don’t have it yet.
Some of my friends have verified that it’s pretty good though, so who knows.
it was like that for me earlier today, then i went on and it was fine, and since then it’s been pretty damn good. maybe stuff is synching up or something, but it’s no where near as bad as it was earlier today for me. it’s very playable. ive been on the past few hours and it’s been just fine.
and to be perfectly honest, i feel like the sound issue has also been getting better and is barely noticeable now.
I’m saying that whether or not it’s better immediately at release, you guys are acting like no new game ever has bugs. Maybe I’m just optimistic but all this worrying seems a little unnecessary to me. Capcom has put too much into this game to just let it the online flop.
I find the netcode to be pretty decent. I played ranked matches with a friend as a partner and most of our matches were solid. when we played a 3 bar however it was not a fun time. the game while staying at full speed it became really really choppy but like everyone said a patch should fix tht choppy problems
After experiencing KOF13 I learned that 99% of people that post reports about netcode are either a) totally fucking retarded or b) completely fucking retarded.
That being said, I wouldn’t be surprised if the online is not stellar. Even though Capcom marketed the online as being amazing its very difficult to forget other companies that have said the same thing and failed to deliver.
I think it’s a difference in preference. Some people don’t like roll back and would rather input delay. When it’s really laggy, the game will start to skip around and you’ll get a lot of frame skipping, when the connection is good you’ll have minor frame skipping, and when it’s really good you’ll only have the sound drop out every now and then. If you’ve ever played GGPO in the very beginning, this is like a bootleg version. I’m not saying it’s perfect and i’d rather have it play like this, than massive amounts of delay like SF4. They’re headed in the right direction addressing lag imo, but they still have a lot of room to improve.
Edit: Let me add that some people are also streaming the game as they are playing, which is really annoying.
You know absolutely nothing about how these things work, do you? Besides, people are complaining about the wrong things because they can’t handle choppy audio and frame rate drops. The actual gameplay is fine and apparently is a basic rip-off of GGPO, which is a good thing. However, it took GGPO a few iterations before it reached the level it’s at now and I imagine after a few patches including a day one patch that we will be good to go.
Also, lets not just toss away the idea that it could be a restriction made on purpose directed toward those who got the game early. Just saying.
The thing is it isn’t retail… since the games not suppose to be out yet and it will have a large day 1 patch. Day 1 patches to fix things they continue to work on after going gold is very common, the online has been tweaked for many fighting games, blazblues had patches, soul calibur 5 had patches, kofxii did, not sure about xiii, I think Mk9 did etc.
so wait they took a shot at a half assed ggpo rollback netcode after all that back-pedaling during mvc3/ssf4? and there’s no tweak for it in the options anywhere? and we’re still gonna take the blame for “not supporting it” if it’s shit right?
Yup they sure did, and no, there’s no tweak in the options. It’s a decent first try, but there’s a lot of room for them to make it better. The only time massive delay happens is if the connection is absolutely horrendous. I’ve only played in one match like that and i did it just to see how the game handles that type of situation. I think a delay setting should be mandatory from now on, that way people can play the way they want.
