NeoGeo Battle Coliseum (NGBC) Thread

still gonna get it regardless

Cant wait to get it, sprites look much better!

Rebalances would be nice if only I could have as much fun playing Yuki against live players as I do against the computer. Not that I’ve actually got any live play time with NGBC, I’ve read alot and realize alot of his shortcomings but I just love the tokusatsu styled guy.

The sprites look ok to me, eh, it’s better than nothing because I don’t have my PS2 anymore.

I’m not too excited since they are going to screw up the netcode.

When it comes to this game being broken because of two characters, its not too bad. I’ve seen a ton of tourney matches where players picked a variety of characters and still win. At least it’s not annoying like KOFXI was, I couldn’t stand how many players had to had Gato and Kula on their team!

^This, the new filter looks bleh (imo) but I’ll buy it anyway…

Uh… no. That’s what the sprites look like. There’s no “ReBout”. There’s only the smudged, nasty, shitty sprites.

Here’s proof. The 720p image reduced to the same size as the images and video you’re fapping over:

You guys being fooled by tiny 640x360 pictures and tiny videos of a 1280x720 game crack me up.

uhh yea I’m drawing comparisons from the screen shots to the Yuki and Ai found here http://www.famitsu.com/game/coming/1231360_1407.html judging from the sprite shots and the screen shots, the sprites in the screenshots look much more blurry, as if a filter is on it. Hence the assumption. No need to get worked up.

Anyways, is there like a JPN release date for this? Also curious if there are any possible balance changes (since they’re already overhauling the game visually)

^^^^
That’s what I was thinking.

If they are going through all this HD stuff and character portrait changes, can they at least do some character balances, not too much nerfing and buffs, but something.

day 1

doesn’t look super ugly to me. some characters look really bad like shiki but haomaru doesn’t look too bad to me. it’s hit or miss depending on the character.

Without a rebalance of some kind, i’ll pass on this Big/Kim fest.

LOL @ all the bitching about balance. NGBC has never been played at a high enough level to really know how balanced/unbalanced it is. ESPECIALLY not in the US (with due respect to purify, others).

No, you don’t know what you’re talking about.

@Keits, the game isn’t that unbalanced. Its nowhere near the level of say, Kim and Big being CE Bison and Guile. They need tweaks, but there’s plenty of room for the other characters to compete at high level.

Like ROS said earlier, they really wouldn’t have to do too much to make the balance really good.

I can see where Warzard is coming from actually. NC was the highest concentrated level of play for Coliseum in the US, which wasn’t too terribly concentrated, and was mostly three guys, not even including myself. They got into the game pretty damn far, but not the level a scene like Japan’s could take it. For one, they kept playing it and we didn’t.

I never really minded Big that much, but he didn’t shut down my characters as badly as he does others. There are far, far worse recent SNK balance problems. If I can do as well as I did playing mid tier, then I’d say there was much more to the game.

What supposedly “killed” the game was Justin winning it at FR (9 or X?), playing a relatively day one Big/Kim. If I had lost to Alex Roski in loser’s finals and let him have a second shot at Wong, I think we would have had a much better chance of having won that. But nope, I had to fight Justin in GF and Kim’s offense is outright disgusting when executed properly, plus I fucked up and got read.

I don’t think it was the last NGBC tourney at Final Round (which was FRXI) that killed the game. It was more like the last hurrah, if anything.
If anything, JWong brought a little more attention to the game. Even in NC, you know as well as I do, that the game was already on its last legs.
If people kept playing, yeah, we could have found more to the game than the Big/Kim/glitched Tung crap. I think your success with Mai/Shiki was evidence of that. As is the Japanese play from the past year.

It was more like the SNK community was riding too much on KOF’s nuts, and still is. The game never took off like KOF in the places where SNK really matters (Japan, China, Mexico)…I’d blame that more on the Atomiswave and SNK’s incredible (lack of) marketing and less on Big/Kim.

The balance problems are only secondary when you don’t have wide support in the first place.
Which is really sad, because the few people we have left are incredibly turned off by the top-tier abuse; which is even more of a compounded shame because there’s a ton of very interesting and unique mid-to-low tier characters in this game.

fuck those 3d backrounds!!! fuck 'em

The sprites look pretty good IMO, it might not be for eveyrone but I think it’s better then what they had intially. As for this whole"balance"debate…well no game is trully balanced as I am sure most of you are aware of. In the case of this game, the roster is still coimpetitive and viable so that’s good enough for me personally.

With a shitty netcode there’s no need to replace my ps2 version.

Casuals today. Trying out my Shermie; she’s pretty fresh.

You know you can super cancel King Lion’s counter right? Both of you were sitting on a lot of meter through the whole thing.
