Got the demo and figured ‘what the hell?’ so bought the game. I’m just playing around in single player now, but it seems like a fun game so far.
I used to use Mr Big and Shermie a whole lot in 98UM, I was hoping they would play similar, but it’s taking a little getting used to adjusting to their new moves/inputs etc along with the system changes. Charge Robert is interesting too, definitely a lot to learn again!
Eh, forget about it. Most of these same people are the ones who use the top tiers and then look down on others for asking what the tiers are for a fighting game. You can’t win either way, dude.
NGBC uses the same horseshit netcode that Fatal Fury Special, KOF98UM, Garou and Samsho II XBLA all use. IE its complete garbage and worthless.
Ya, if you find someone with a ping of 50 or lower its ok (comparable to SF4 or Battle Fantasia’s netcode), but any higher at all and theres a giant delay.
Don’t you dare email SNK telling them to use this netcode for KOF XIII.
No… no, it’s not. As a person who’se played the PS2 version, extensive offline VS today VS family, and fought pings from 300+ to 62… this is far and beyond better netcode than the other SNKP efforts.
There’s no stuttering, button lag is nearly nonexistent quite often, and the only time you see stuttering is during the battle intros (Just like Blazblue in that.)
It also holds up very well under stressed conditions. I’ve seen worse matches on “3 bars” in any Capcom fighter.
It’s not flawless of course, and the initial interface is pretty much the same as the older SNKP releases (though in a higher resolution…), but this is solid netcode for one-on-one fighting.
It’s missing a lot from full retail release code… No spectators, only 1player VS the other, a low amount of online modes… but this is an excellent start. I don’t know who you fought to get such crappy feeling matches… Haven’t had any noticibally laggy matches over more hours of play than I’d like to admit…
Good to know. I don’t really care about spectators (who does?) but is there a way to save matches? Gonna have to pick up a 360 for this and KOF02UM when that hits.
Were you hosting every match you played, or joining? Its significantly smoother if you’re host (though theres still a delay in a vast majority of matches, regardless of how low the ping is). I played people with pings from 60-200 and didn’t get a solid game as someone joining the match. It was better when I hosted with lower ping games, but still not as good as SF4. It is the same thing used in the previous XBLA games.
Did both. Didn’t feel a difference on my end for either side. I get some good 3 bars with IV, but against randoms, I’ve had obvious delay 3s (don’t do any lower on IV or super…)
SamSho2 and Fatal Fury Special both had “Slideshow” style lag, just like KoF XII pre-patch. One of the first matches I did on SSII was probably the worse lag I’ve seen since hyper fighting… This game doesn’t have any of that. Garou and 98 had some nasty button delay, even when my local friend and I would swap hosting duties, to see if it helped. Though I forget if 98 had skipping (I think it did, but it’s been a while), High 100s in 98UM led to dropped weak attacks and poorly linked normals, and a very hard time blocking crossups that I should have blocked. Haven’t experienced any of that in this game, on either side (and that’s fighting characters with hop-like moves, like Mai’s d+B knee dive.)
This is the first SNKP fighter on XBLA where I can say I played 180+ ping without feeling my moves and strategy where inhibited. Things came out when I wanted, crossups and spacing worked well, and I didn’t get any mistaken moves or dropped inputs. Was able to anti-air with normals, with specials, doing them late or early… I could use the same strats I used against my brother offline. Haven’t been able to say THAT for most SNKP fighters, and thanks to SFIV’s uber-precise link timing, I actually miss more moves in that game, than I have here.
You’re not on a Wireless connection, are you? I’m using Wired here, myself.
I like how there are three threads with a couple dozen people raving about the netcode, some people alternating between hosting to make sure and everything, and then… there’s one guy that still says the netcode is shit and everyone else is wrong.
