"Needs more Dudley!" The Boxer Video Thread

I think you backup too much in some cases. Just keep your mid distance range. Other then that you just had a few execution errors. GJ!

gg’s Mango, i saw your name, and felt i had to prove myself, even though i knew you were gonna pick rog, ugh i hate rog vs rog

good shit man :]

 is me. This is the part where I complain about lag and about how you were a host whore…

nah

Good game bro. Rog mirrors FTL

LOL
i had just fought a rog player before you, Honda ftw there

Rog mirrors are teh gay

:grrr:

Need all videos from Eduardo’s Balrog ASAP

maaaann that guy had a sick balrog.

I’ve been lurking around here for a while trying to watch videos and read general strategies, but now since I just got myself a Dazzle I thought I could record some of my matches and post it here for advice. I have to warn you guys though, I’m probably just a little-below average to average player. Some of these matches, probably most, aren’t beautiful, but I’m just looking for some advice to improve my game.

I know I throw too many random headbutts and I’m working on that. If you could also watch other Street Fighter 4 channels other than my Balrog, that would be great.

Thanks in advance.

Nice matches, i posted up some comments on all of them … my youtube handle is DVSKaz.

To improve your game first stay out of the air, rog isn’t a jumpy character! Also you need to mixup your attack patterns because by the 3rd game he was reading your patterns and baiting you! Try to lay off the excessive use of ex overhead rush, and ‘psychic’ ex headbutts as they are both punishable. Finally when you have the lead vs gief use the timer to your advantage! There were a few rounds you could have easily won by just backing off and making him come to you (abuse c fp aka god hand).

I will have to say your execution was very nice and you have rog’s combos down pat! The only link i saw you miss more then once was s jab ~ c rh (which i have problems with myself!) … very impressive!

thnx for the replies Sallabout DTO en dc guru ill try to incorporate your advice into my game.

It’s not that you throw too many headbutts, but you just need to throw smart headbutts. I see that you’re working on reducing the random ones, but I think you need to throw more cr. Fierce and “smart” headbutts. Here’s what I see: you’re getting crossed-up and eating a huge combo OR you block a jump-in and eat a throw, and crouching fierce, standing strong, and headbutts can solve these problems. Or something as simple as a focus attack/ing and backdashing. In addition, work on those throw techs. I’ll leave the more technical for the more advanced.

PTO… That was an amazing match against Akuma… I can never get the Loop to hit for me… I can’t seem to get the timming… I can hit everything but then when it comes up to hitting the EX upper cut into the cr. Jab - Cr. jab… It never connects… It breaks… any tips on how to get it to hit so smoothly like you did…???

How exactly can one practice teching throws when they are being mixed up with combos and cross ups. This is definitely a weak spot in my game but I haven’t found a very good way of practicing teching the throws outside of coming across a few guys who use it more than sparingly (and even then I don’t tech all of them).

This unfortunately just comes from experience IMO. If you continue to play, you’ll learn the actions and patterns of other characters. And then, it’ll become second nature.

one thing i always hear from people after they compliment me on my rog, is that i hardly ever miss my head butts, i only use them as combo enders and to get through moves when i know it will connect, i also notcie that when i play other rogs, they headbutt so fucking much its amazing.

Yeah it’s a bad habit. I can’t believe I just lost to a Blanka just now.

against blanka, you should always have the win, just become a punish machine

i’m watching a lot of these videos of games from you guys and i notice a small trend of FADCing fireballs backwards all the time.

the point is to push your opponents to the corner and no one is FADCing forward. You can catch people throwing a 2nd fireball by just fadc forward then jumping. I think it’s everyone’s 2nd nature to just absorb it… but why not move forward when you do it. I think it’s a better option.

no, if you fight anyone thats good using ryu, you will eat cr.mk and another hadouken clearing the damage you absorbed, you absorb it and back off to gain ultra, and work your way in, try and absorb and move forward on anyone with skill and youll regret it

Here’s a few matches I recorded. This first one was a match against a pretty good Rose player.

This next one is just for fun. It’s just a Dictator getting shit on.

FADC backdash through fireballs is a safer option, but there are opportunities at certain distances where you can fadc forward through a fireball and catch them in recovery. but it’s risky for sure. I would much rather build revenge meter and absorb fireballs and backdash into safety. Having an ultra is usually a mindgame of its own, causes hesitation in players sometimes.
