Need suggestions on fixing HRAP stick

Hi All,

Been a while since I posted here and things have changed since then. Anyways onto the issue. I have a HRAP PS2 stick that I use with laugh’s inPin PS2 to PS3 adapter for playing SSFIV. Now just about 2 weeks ago the stick stopped working. So I opened it up and found that the PCB seems to be receiving power and the buttons are getting proper voltage, and is working, it is just not being recognized properly as a controller.

After a bit of diagnostics it comes down to the wire that runs out and connects the HRAP to the PS2 to PS3 adapter a.k.a the male PS2 port connector. The good part is that this is easily detachable and appear to be replaceable. I wanted to try to fix the wiring, but looking at how the PS2 male port end looks, I can’t disassemble it without breaking the port.

Essentially I need to replace the whole wire and so I was wondering if there is any source that would sell or even have this part available? Does Hori actually sell those as replacements or something they would even do?

Anyone who has experience on this matter would be of great help.

Thanks

You want the chord that runs from the controller to the converter? If you’re OK with soldering you can just chop one off an old pad.

@ Rufus,

That was going to be my last resort as I don’t want to sacrifice my only PS2 controller I use to play PS2 games. I would have to buy a new PS2 controller and sacrifice the old one which I am fine with, but if this is the case, might as well ask to see if that the wire and controller port is sold separately as an alternative if I have to buy something.

You can always by a PS2 extension cord, chop off the female end and replace the cord with that.

@ Darksakul

Thanks for the info, that looks like a cheaper alternative than buying a controller. I’ll look into this solution, hopefully I can get the stick up and running.
