Call me a noob or w/e but my biggest problems online with MK9 is getting stuck in a combo block strings ie. smoke and raiden. How can I get away or counter them when they keep coming at you with combos besides letting them hit you and wasting meter on a combo breaker to reset them.
Try crouch punching to break their momentum, then doing a jump-in or some other counter attack. It’s hard though, I know.
Depends, just try sweeping, uppercut, jumping over them, using a special, whatever the heck you want.
ahh I guess I just need to practice and lose a lot more. my delivery is good I can pull off long combos in practice mode I guess I just get stuck in defensive mode.
Depends how good the connection is. If it’s a shitty connection, you’re pretty much screwed because of input delay. Raiden for instance has a basic 3,3,4. The first 2 hits are positive on block and the third is an overhead; if you’re crouch blocking and try to stand block the incoming overhead, on a bad connection, you’ll get hit and lose a good 25% of your health simply because of input delay.
But if you don’t know what particular move is an overhead (or is +ve/-ve on block/hit etc), you won’t realise what you did wrong, and in some cases what you did right. That’s why it’s important to learn offline rather than online.
If there’s no scene nearby you, try getting one of your friends (maybe siblings) to pull certain moves off in 2 player/practice and then ask them to block immediately to see if you can punish it on block. Unfortunately, this game doesn’t have a cpu record function so unless you’ve got someone else to play the game with, offline, it will be difficult to learn things.
Of course, practice will help, but practice in terms of being in that situation (preferably offline, that way you minimise input delay/lag etc) so you learn how to block (and punish) correctly and just be psychologically comfortable the next time you’re in that situation.
