So the problem is when his phone charges, his USB stick goes wacko?
That should not happen by FCC guidelines
Are you sure the 2 devices are on 2 different circuit breakers? That what would be the only thing that could have a impact.
Also what brand joystick were talking about? Whats the make of the PCB inside?
It is possible electrically, but it is hard to reproduce the same problem elsewhere. As in I can’t just go to some home and do the same thing with just any cell phone, PS3 and joystick. An exact set of conditions need to exist for this to happen. I didn’t think wired controllers are effected by RF from the cell phone so I am thinking this is noise on the power lines.
Torta, its not that the PS3 and the Cell needs to be in different rooms, just different circuits; different outlets that is going to 2 different circuit breakers/ fuses in your circuit breaker/ fuse box. See if you can get a quality surge protector for your home entertainment system for your Television, PS3 and other entertaiment devices.
And I do not mean a $10 power strip, I mean a actual surge protector with a obviously market Protection rating. They will run you about $30 and up msrp. Not saying you have to spend $30 to $80 just that the device have to be worth that in the market ;).
Hopefully what this will do is clean out any line noise on the power lines.
You might want a 2nd smaller surge protector for the phone.
I also have to ask do you have Ethernet over electrical lines/ mains adapter where the home network uses the houses electrical wiring as the network connection
Here is an example of such a device for those who I have lost
