I wanna ask for a favor: if you so happen to pass by any Blockbuster, can you please go and check how the SF TPB is selling? If they have sold out or not?
I want to get a good idea of how sales are in different areas. Coz the sales term is ending by the end of the year, and any unsold copies will be taken off the shelves and sent to destroy (like most newstand magazines).
Destroy?!? Make them available to order intead. I remember seeing a lot of guys here saying they couldnt get one. Hell, cant you just sell them to rupps or herofix or comic-central instead?
The Blockbuster in my town is all sold out. There were only 2-3 copies of the tpb, though. The display was down in under a week, though and they still have almost all the controllers. Then again, my town is relatively the size of a Wal Mart parking lot.
If it is what i think you are talking about then last time I checked (before thanksgiving, there were like 2 left at the blockbuster near me) There also were a few street fighter controllers also.
Speaking of which, since you work for UDON, I’m sure at some time or another you got a chance to try out those Street Fighter Anniversary Arcade Sticks, well some of us would like some information about the stick. Like type of buttons, joysticks, even a simple explanation of why the makers decided to go with 3 and 3 button layout in a straight line as oppose to a curved line like the Capcom Fighting Jam sticks base on the Hori Real Arcade Pro. Is it because of the original layout of the Street fighter arcade.
Anyways back to the first thing, I could check tomorrow and see if those books are still at the blockbuster near me tomorrow or friday.
It’s gone from the Blockbuster I go to. All the SF stuff seems to be gone, which pisses me off cause I was hoping to buy the controller with Christmas money, grr…
That being said, they were selling. When they first showed up they had about 5 TPB’s, and the last time I looked there were only two left.
Thats the unforunate part of this deal. Newstand deals are like a consignment. They will order whatever copies they feel comfortable, we print them, and we sell it for a fix amount of time. Then they will do up a report and tell us how many copies were sold, and also certify that the rest are destroyed. In other words, we printed everything, shipped to them, and hope that it will sell enought to cover our printing and shipping and other cost (like paying Shinkiro for the extra cover).
That is the only way they would do this deal, and we feel that it is a risk worth taking, that even we might risk not making money, it is a good exposure to the book.
I did ask if they can actually return the books, but the way they set things up, their system is just not equipped with such and if I insist on needing things returned, we will have to pay a lot extra fees to hire people to do so…
That is why once the sale term is up by the end of the year, what is sold is what is out there…
Wow… that just means grab’em up now before it’s too late. Erik, do you know the exact date these will be pulled from the shelves? I already have more than a couple TPBs, but maybe I wouldn’t mind some more :). I’m gonna try to give some as Christmas presents so maybe my friends who don’t get why I’m into comics will understand. -Kent
Good News Udoneko, all three blockbusters in my area have completely sold out,I barely managed to pick up the last copy in all 3 areas!(I live in Illinois btw and have three BBs near me,in Fairview,O’Fallon, and Belleville) So it’s safe to say that SF’s going strong here!
