Also, is it true that the Coolermaster hyper 212 evo CPU cooler has to have the fan facing the ram slots and possibly blocking them?
I am not crazy about the PSU. Are you in a hurry to build? The SeaSonic X Series X650 Gold can be had sometimes for $89 after rebate. Overall, nice build.
Not in a hurry. But I’m glad you pointed that out. I didn’t even know what ‘modular’ meant until I checked that out. It would make cable management a lot easier.
the psu is fine. im pretty sure tx650w is a rebranded seasonic. plus corsairs customer support is awesome if you have an issues down the line. but if you do need modular or semi modular then the recommended seasonic x650 corsair hx series are good.
only saw one hdd listed so is the 1tb wd blue going to be your primary drive? i’d recommend if you still have enough in your budget to pickup an ssd as it will make a noticeable difference in performance increase.
yes, the hyper 212/evo can block the ram if you have tall heatsinks on your ram. this is only a problem if you are running a push/pull fan setup on the hyper 212 (stock only comes 1 fan). you can fix this by moving the fan up a bit to clear the ram (they just snap onto the heatsink) or since you are only using 2 ram sticks you can use the farthest configuration on your mobo. check the documentation for 2 ram stick setup.
or ditch the ram you have and buy low profile ones like the g.skill sniper or even better these: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147096 if you can find it.
edit: also, did you consider Haswell? if you have a Frys near you they have a deal going right now and newegg has this bundle: http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1352788
Seems Fine To me. I would Also recommend an SSD if you have room in your budget. Otherwise The 1TB is fine for now.
You might want to hold out buying Until July 4th for deals.
