Need Advice on Adapting to Ultra Guy

I used to play AE 2012 and recently got into Ultra, I read up on some changes made to 'em, and while most of them are nice and welcome changes, I will mourn the loss of his vortexes, cr. MP as an anti-air and the old elbow hit box.

I’ve been using air throws and st. HK as anti-airs more often now to off-set the lack of cr. MP, but I wanted to ask you all if you had any resources to provide me with Ultra-specific tech, so, mixups, combos, etc.

Hugo one actually works on more characters like shotos gief and Rog. In the tech department nothing exceptionally new, DWU setups for guy are normally manual timing due to not having an 11 frame move. There’s also St.lk to anti air, useful for the divekicks. if you need frame data there’s the SRK wiki or the phone apps . If you need Guys hitboxes there’s a thread that has the link to his normals and special hitboxes.

Ninja Sickle is the most significant change in my opinion (11f startup down to 7f holy shit), in the corner you can also link it after a CH cr MP, cl MP, or cl MK.

New walk speed now makes whiff/tech punishing easier. Guy’s stagger is good now.

Target combo is improved as an approach tool, and is one more reason why Guy players should stay on the ground more.

New far HK isn’t just a good AA, it’s also a good poke. If characters like Abel get caught by it during a forward dash, you can followup with far MP xx special

You’re looking at 2 recovery frames for a whiffed (due to dwu) safe jump attack, though, so following up with a 9-frame move should make it hit on the first frame, no? Know what I usually do after a slide knockdown? Do the nj hp but continue to hold down and mash hp. If they get a delayed wake-up, hp will come out and block/hitstun them, if they don’t delay it the same thing will happen, except the nj hp will be added to the string.

You could also use cr MP, cr MK, cl MK or df HK (sickle) in order to hit their delayed wakeup.
